college meeting continue on sixth page two thousand spectators wit nessed a foot ball game on last saturday and saw lehigh go . down in inglorious defeat before } the veteran wearers of the ma j roon and white battered and crushed by the terrific force ) of the obsolete guards-back , the lehigh line finally broke j in pieces and five hundred loyal j supporters relapsed into a state of the deepest despondency and t the worst of it was that previous to the game the hopes of the col lege ran high and when the defeat 1 came with its awful completeness the disappointment was all the , more bitter the weather was as melancholy as the result heavy leaden . clouds hung 1 over the field and de . livered on the heads of the shiver ing spectators a slow cold drizzle which was anything but agreeable but in spite of the weather both 1 colleges were out in goodly num bers and the cheering was as spir , ited and voluminous as has ever echoed from the bare side of old 1 south mountain lehigh as always fought with every ounce of strength she pos sessed butler and fuller perhaps carried off what few honors lehigh gleaned from the game both men i tackling and running the ball with a desperation which drew praise from the most partisan of the la . fayette contingent for the visitors '. platt and trout were invincible while cure punted accurately and in splendid form the teams lined up at 2.45 le high taking the east goal and 1 la fayette kicking off butler carried the ball to his own 40-yard line where after two trials which netted perhaps ten yards fuller punted to stitzer lafayette returned the punt and by splendid work the ball was carried to the middle of the field by lehigh chiefly on plunges by butler and fuller the visitors held for downs but lost the ball on a fumble after gaining a few yards lehigh was unable to gain and fuller punted to lafayette's 35-yard line up to this time le high had decidedly outplayed her opponents but now began to weaken after steady gains on guards-back the ball was brought to lehigh's 40-yard line where platt circled his right end and elud for alumni seeking employment information bureau is perhaps the best name for the undertaking authorized by the executive com mittee the secretary receives in formation about positions to be filled and sends this information to members seeking positions the working of the plan is explained by the following extracts from com munications received : am looking for a first class man with headquarters at the lab oratory as assistant to our furnace superintendent one experienced in large elec tric power and pumping stations wanted just now we are always in need of first class draughtsmen who are famil iar with and have had some exper ience with construction work we are always in need of good men for the different departments of our business ;
