early last semes ter will dine or party at the houses tonight tomorrow and all next week excluding this sunday ifc officials are confident the rushing period will be successful even though it opens on the ifc sponsored monte carlo weekend steve halperin ifc rushing chair man told the brown and white a special police committee has been drafted to guard against any abuses of rushing rules which specifically see bids page 10 will receive a 60-cent rebate from the university for each freshman guest the practice was introduced last year when the compulsory eat ing plan for freshmen was intro duced before the eating plan fresh men ate at the fraternity houses list hours frosh can be at the houses the deadline tomorrow is 5 p.m the committee will spot-check fraternities two or three times dur ing the week halperin predicts the unprecedented action will cut down on illegal rushing we think goes on ifc president carl schier also expressed hope this would be a problem-less rush period white with 3.01 cumulative aver age in his objection to the inclusion of segal's name on the board's slate leith said a democratic basis for the conduct of our campus affairs is better than an aristocratic class basis even when the presence of interlocking directorates is as sociated with a high general level of competent performance in the classroom and in the extra curri culum i'd really like to know what he has against me segal told the brown and white as far as i'm concerned it's all a little fiasco on his part it seems to me he is dis criminating either against me per sonally or the brown and white he said a resolution drafted by solon myron olstein 60 at last week's special session called for the dean to consider a slate of stu dent-faculty committee select see arcadians page 4 slc study ended leith report soon student life committee has concluded its five-month study of fra ternity rushing and pledging practices a final slc report is scheduled to be submitted to dean j d leith for his consideration some time today or tomorrow accord ing to committee members in disclosing that the committee has completed its lengthy study slc members noted that the group serves the university in a purely ad visory and independent capacity and that the final decision on the fra ternity problem must come from the dean of students and faculty slc held its final meeting on the hotly-debated topic on wednesday night following receipt of interfraternity council's suggested alternate proposal committee members remained secret on their final recommenda tion to the dean's office but reliable sources disclosed that the slc report would be a cempromise between the many points of view which have been presented on the problem committee members promised a complete report to the student body after the dean has considered the problem and made his decision contacted yesterday afternoon leith told the brown and white that he had only received a preliminary verbal report from committee chairman joseph libsch but expected the full report within a day or so libsch confirmed that the final report would soon be in the dean's hands leith's decision is expected within the very near future since student activities committee has already granted several extensions on its original submission deadline and is reported anxious to have the final recommendations from the dean before the famous monaco gambling resort the lower floor of grace hall wili witness a new mood as dates cir culate from one game of chance to another in their effort to capture the top money winnings of the night and the first prize a bottle of spirits fraternity parties will hold the saturday post-dance spotlight as couples fresh from an intoxicating evening of dancing and gambling head toward the houses for fun and refreshments freshmen will not be allowed to attend these parties since fraternities halt all rushing ac tivities at 5 p.m saturday the semi-formal dance will be held from 9 to 1
