fumbles which have hampered lehigh's football team all season caused the engineers more grief saturday two bobbles and a long pass interception return set up three bucknell touchdowns the bi son's margin of victory as bucknell handed the engineers their fourth loss of the season 28-6 at lewis burg both fumbles and the inter ception return gave bucknell's of fense the ball within lehigh's 13 yard line from there it was a cinch for bucknelfs powerful ground attack to drive over for the score with running star brad my ers tallying twice otherwise lehigh's defense held bucknell in check the bisons re lying solely on ground plays reel ed off 172 yards rushing with my ers gaining 100 yards of that total with burt talmage the other half of bucknell's touchdown twins out with a leg injury myers bore the brunt of the ball-carrying us ing his speed and good blocking to pick up about five yards per carry lehigh mixed tom gloede's short passes with their split-t run ning plays to outgain bucknell in total offense and move with some consistency marty maurer's full back plunges which were good for 60 yards paced lehigh's ground attack of 104 yards while gloede passed for 113 yards and lehigh's only touchdown — a 20-yard toss to ron westfall see bucknell page 5 same story same rules for displays varsity l brings pee wee and dixie here sat a dixieland concert and dance will be the main university func tion saturday evening as a climax to the muhlenberg football game the varsity l is sponsoring the dance and has obtained pee wee erwin and his band from the grot tos of greenwich village the varsity l has for some time been trying to initiate some thing that would make the club outstanding it is the first to bring a dixieland concert to the campus and if successful the group hopes that it will become an annual af fair joe comley is responsible for obtaining the band the dance will be held on the upper floor of grace hall from 9 until 12 p.m the big floor will be given cafe atmosphere with addi tion of tables and chairs with room see varsity l page 6 fur the burning of decorations at the volunteers for stevenson headquarters at 4th and new sts early friday morning a lehigh freshman has been charged with disorderly conduct and released on | 28.50 bail bethlehem police chief ray mond reuter said today that the student francis schwerin has been turned over to the custody of dean of students wray h cong don who has promised that full restitution will be made police charge schwerin used a match to set fire to bunting an old awning also caught fire but burned itself out without further damage however it was not done by willful intent the chief said and therefore it is not arson the boy will be fined for disorderly con duct only he added two other lehigrh students who were with schwerin at the scene of the fire have been exon erated according to police what university action will be taken is not known at this time dean congdon stated that he did not have anything further to add to the story prof j b mcfadden chairman of the volunteers told brown and white that he is convinced the boy wasn't antagonistic toward the stevenson group he added that he is satisfied that it was just a hallowe'en prank that backfired also tend to bring out the various design originalities in the respect ive houses all displays must be ready for judging by 3 p.m on friday nov 21 that same evening at 7 final judging will take place and an nouncements of the winners will be made during half-time at the game judging will be based not only on artistic arrangement and design but also on the originality of the display with the lehigh-lafayette homecoming game only three weeks away ifc has started or ganizing the annual fraternity dis play project which uses the usual theme beat lafayette ifc has again in all fairness to those houses involved set a limit of 25 to be used by each house for its display this accord ing to ifc will put each house on equal financial standing and will quirk criswell add to 17th series of art alliance exhibit here five hundred art enthusiasts were present at the opening of the 17th annual lehigh art alliance exhibit held sunday afternoon in the library art gallery the exhibit consists of sixty oils water colors and sculptures portraying art in many diversified forms included in the exhibit were paintings by dr francis j quirk of the fine arts department and cloyd criswell of the english de partment the exhibition will run through nov 25 the art gallery will be open on sunday tuesday wed nesday thursday and friday from 2-5 p.m and tuesday and thurs day from 7-10 p.m between greetings and grenades john chuhinka had a rough time getting to lehigh and a rougher time staying here but now one of the first korean vets on campus feels he's here to stay chuhinka's trials began in 1948 when he enlisted in the army engineers after graduating from mahanoy city high school he served on guam until june 1950 at this time he decided to come to lehigh to get a degree in civil engineering after surviving freshman regis tration in september 1950 chu hinka settled down with four years of college life to look for ward to but not for long he re ceived more mail from uncle sam and hurried home to take another army physical by november he was in korea by the following july he was in a japanese hospital with a gre nade-shattered leg the young purple-heart vet eran had been serving with the second infantry division as a rifle squad leader on the central korean front when bad luck struck a grenade was tossed into his foxhole at the time the un was driving up the peninsula from the seaport of pusan chuhinka tried to scramble out but the grenade went off prematurely and the shrapnel smacked his leg after two weeks in a japanese hospital he was sent back to walter reed hospital in washing ton while waiting for his leg to mend and for his discharge to come see vet page 6 you'll dial un to phone lu telephone exchange designations in the area will change at midnight nov 8 according to the bell tele phone company university will be the new designation for telephones in the bethlehem area new telephone directories will be issued immediately after the changes go into effect kelly applauds organ recital by weinrich by harlan m kelly the second recital on the new starkey memorial organ was in the competent hands of carl weinrich noted american concert organist it met with considerable interest from the moderate-size audience in packer chapel on sunday since weinrich is famous for his playing of music from the ba roque pre-bach period it was natural that he programmed three works from this extensive period these are clever little items which utilize the smaller bell-like stops of the organ and contain such interesting contrapuntal fila gree wisely enough weinrich started the concert with a rather rhyhmic example of this period works of johann sebastian bach were of course on the program the c minor passacaglia and fu gue and several chorale-prelude were the representatives of the german master the former beautifully shows why bach is considered so import ant — especially if one
