Kugeiman was attending the annual Water Pollution Control Federation Conference in downtown San Francisco, Davis is studying this fall at Berkeley and Arbogast was visiting his daughter near Oakland. Pilzer Extolls Journalism During Classroom Visits By Lesa Ayers ■Journalism is the absolutely best major you can take to be successful in any field in the world today," declared Paul Zane Pilzer '74. Pilzer. now 35. is a Dallas-based millionaire who returned to Lehigh Oct. 17-18 to offer his advice to six undergraduate classes in the College of Arts and Science. Pilzer's two-day visit marked the week that Simon and Schuster released his first book. "Other People's Money: The Inside Story on the S&L Mess." The publisher expects the book to be one of the hottest new business titles of the year. But Pilzer didn't come to Lehigh sell his book, or to relate tips on how to make a killing in real estate. At the invitation of President Peter Likins, he came to inspire and advise a new crop of students about the most important lessons Lehigh taught him: how to write, and how to think. Pilzer is perhaps best known as one of a handful of American entrepreneurs who made their first $1 million before they were 30 — a distinction he never mentioned in class. People can't write and communicate anymore," Pilzerobserved before an Environmental Writing class of journalism professor Sharon Friedman on Tuesday. "The universal criteria an organization use,s to pick its company chairman, its head, is written and oral communication skills. They make you stand out." A chilly Upperclass Parent's Day crowd of 11,223 enjoyed 33-13 Lehigh victory over Northeastern Saturday. The crowd was the third largest in Goodman Stadium history. Here, fans wrap themselves in blankets to ward off the stiff breeze that was whipping through Goodman Stadium.
