This collection includes poetry, thoughts, notes and personal effects of Georg Frank (1823-1907) as well as information and pictures pertaining to Frank's immediate family.
Georg Frank was born on September 19th, 1823 in Wittenberg, Germany. He emigrated from Germany to the United States, living for a time in Vermont, Pittsburgh and Ohio. In 1854, he moved to Palmyra, New Jersey, to marry Barbara Gestätter. Gestätter had been a classmate of Frank's from Germany who moved to the United States in 1851 and was subsequently widowed. A shoemaker by trade, Frank and his wife were instrumental in establishing the Palmyra Moravian Church. Prior to the establishment of an official church in 1863, Frank led services out of his home. Frank and his wife also established a Sunday school for local children. Frank died on February 1st, 1907 in Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
