The Frueauff collection is a compilation of documents pertaining to various members of the Frueauff family. The members mentioned within the collection all fall into the family lineage beginning with Johann Fr. Frueauff senior. Johann senior was born in 1729 and lived until 1790 in Germany. He was a Pastor in Neudietendorf for most of his life but in his passing he is buried in Christiansfeld. He married Johanna Margaret and had two children Johann Friedrich junior, and Friedrich Renatus. Johann Fr. junior was born in Neudietendorf October 29, 1762, he was educated at the Barby Theological Seminary, and afterwards began teaching. He traveled to pa. To teach at Nazareth hall from 1788 to 1791 then in 1792 Johann was ordained a deacon and served in Lititz, Bethlehem, Nazareth, and Schoeneck. In 1807 Johann was ordained a Presbyter in Bethlehem. Johann was also the Principle of the Bethlehem Boarding School from 1819-1821. Johann married Johanna Elizabeth de Schweinitz in 1798. Johann died in 1829 on the journey between Philadelphia and Bethlehem. Johann had four children Hedwig Angelica, Eugene Alexander, Theresa Adelaide, and Emalia. Johann Friedrich's brother Friedrich Renatus was born in 1764 in Neudietendorf he studied at the theological seminary at Niesky, and like his brother began teaching. Renatus remained primarily in Germany teaching in Uhyst, and Grosshennersdorf. For a period of time Fr. Renatus was a pastor in Zeist, and he was also a member of the Unity Elders Conference. Friedrich married Friederike Koelbing in 1796. She proceeded him to her eternal home in 1837, and he followed in 1851. Friedrich was blessed with six children Wilhelm, Emestine, Augnote, Herman Clara, and Marianne. The Frueauff collection follows the lineage of Eugene Alexander, and Clara who married in 1836. Eugene was born in Lititz pa September 28th 1806. He was educated in Gnadenfeld theological seminary, afterwards as typical in the Frueauff family he became a teacher. He was ordained a deacon in 1837. His wife Clara was born in 1816 in Germany and met Eugene in London where they were married shortly after in 1836. Their marriage was blessed with four children Freddie, Herman T., Eugene "Genie", and Clara. Eugene Alexander passed away in 1879, and following him Clara passed away in 1899.


The Frueauff family papers consist of letters, notebooks, poems, music and other material pertaining to various members of the Frueauff family. Also included in the collection are an assortment of memoirs and other papers that were collected by members of the Frueauff family that do not pertain to or were not created by a member of the Frueauff family.
