Thirteen journals kept by Hilderich Rosenberg between 1859 and 1877. Also in the collection is a memoir written by Rosenberg for Brother Jens Bahne Tychsen in 1869, a journal with notes copied from other sources from 1867, and a piece of loose leaf paper with notes.
Hilderich Rosenberg was born in Löbau, Saxony, in January of 1826. He moved to the United States in 1850. He was involved with the Moravian Church in some capacity in Boston, Massachusettes and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His diaries document a life spent dedicated to the church and Christianity as a whole: most of his diaries are accounts of church services and other church events. He aided Rev. Phillip Henry Gapp during his establishment of an official Moravian church in Palmyra, New Jersey. Rosenberg stayed with the Palmyra congregation until his death in September of 1881.
