The Petterson collection contains letters written by Anders, and his wife Anna to Anna's mother Dorothea Wolter in Niesky, Germany. The collection also contains a bound volume, "Glaubenslehre," a manuscript in question and answer format written by Anders, a binder with many German sermons, and information on parables and translation from Hebrew composed by Anders when he was a student at the Moravian Mission School in Niesky, Germany, and the last of the collection is a story and an article also written by Anders.

Anders Petterson was born to Peter and Maria Petterson on December 6, 1858, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Anders was educated at the College in Oerebo, Sweden, and at the Moravian Mission School in Niesky, Germany. Anders was ordained a deacon of the Moravian Church in Bethlehem on September 28, 1884, and consecrated a presbyter in Bethlehem on September 23, 1888. Anders married Anna Wolter on September 3, 1884, who died on April 27, 1924. Anders married a second time on August 10, 1931, in Northfield, Minnesota, to Thea Maria Christianson Branes. Petterson served in the following places: Ephraim, Wisconsin; Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; Laketown, Minnesota; and Northfield, Minnesota. From 1914 to 1916 Anders retired until he returned to serve the following places, Hebron and Altura, Minnesota, and Maura and Gerah, Wisconsin. He finally retired permanently in 1932 in Northfield, Wisconsin.
