lehigh buzzed with activity last week as conferences were held by the pennsylvania branch of secondary school principals and by the health workshop the sixth annual lehigh con feience of the pennsylvania bianch national association of secondary school principals met june 26 and 27 sixty teachers and educators were present at the two day conference dr harold p thomas opened the meeting by greeting dole gates from nine counties puiticj pants came from lehigh north ampton montgomery wayne pike monroe upper bucks car bon and berks counties raxph burrows east strouds i burg president of the confer i ence presided at the opening se ion and introduced the consult ants who lad four discussion groups paul handwerk principal of fianklin junior high school was elected president of the confer ence lee graver principal ol the nazareth area senior high school vice president and a j oplinger principal of heltortowit senior high school secretary treasurer one of the highlights of the conference was the dinnoi in lamberton hall at which dt wil liam j frey head of the depart ment of german and russian at franklin and marshall and co directoi of ihe pennsylvania dutch folklore center spoko on pennsylvania dutch language and lore ' at the same time this summer's session of the health education workshop progressed with talks on public relations between health personnel with the com see shops page 3 over 700 admissions deposits have been accepted by the ad missions office from prospective mernbeis of the class of 56 dr charles a seidle newly appoint ed admissions director announced this week plans have been made he stat ed to ddmit a freshman class of about 700 there's as much dan ger in going over this figure as here is in falling short of it lie explained formerly associate dean of students seidle accepted his new position tuesday he is retaining iesponsibility for student orga nization and activities ufliil a new associate dean is appointed admission work is to prof raymond h snyder sanitary engineering the camp was one of the most suc cessful they ever had because of the willingness of the students and the opportune facilities of course the men had absolutely no source of diversion to hinder them since they were more or less in the middle of nowhere he said the camp covering 380 acres of land consisted of a large mess hall class rooms a camp store and cabins for sleeping there were 20 cabins for the students and five staff cabins with running water only a few of the latter had showers though snyder said also the cooks had three cabins see camping page 3 the poll of the faculty taken on the question of the republi can nominee for president and vice president was answered by 23 of the group there was an approximately even split between those predict ing taft and general eisenhower several of the faculty responding felt that taft would gel the nomination through his already established machine due to the fact that the vice
