exercises and post-com mencement plans dann announced the appoint ments of richard w giles as alumni bulletin secretary robert f scarr class agent and robert p heim reunion chairman clearing up confusion over the proper attire for the senior ball on june 14 dance chairman har ry stowers explained that it is intended that dates wear formal dress while formal clothes for men are optional this plan was adopted so that men without for mal dress would not be discour aged from attending ken kircher idc announced that weekend dates may be hous ed in dravo al for 1.25 a night chaperone service will be pro vided dravo cl will be open to parents and married relatives without charge bed linen and blankets must be supplied by the students kircher said that the sections will be opened at 4 p.m saturday june 14 and will be closed at 10 a.m monday june 16 he asked that all seniors in teresled contact him by may 26 by david b hill five lehigh undergraduates last week confessed to ripping down premeditation the five students collected under 1000 posters and dumped them into the incinerator adjacent to taylor wesley f willoughby 255 undergrads placed by bureau wesley f willoughby 53 will be editor-in-chief of the brown and white for the fall semester of 1952-53 carl zimmerman 53 was nam ed edi:orial director malvern j gross 55 was named business manager and william a lat shaw 53 was appointed manag ing editor robert ameling 54 is the new financial manager while daniel s klein 54 has been named news editor and william a haase 54 has been named sports editor for next semester new make-up editor is paul e sinner 55 john dean 53 is the new circulation manager john e rothenberger 53 has been named desk editor and robert mackenzie 54 has been named photo editor there are eight staff positions which have not been filled yet these include national local and general ad managers morgue edi tor and assistant news sports desk and make-up editors arcadia votes against banning freshmen cars by carl zimmerman arcadia narrowly defeated the molion to ban freshman cars wednesday by a vote of seven to six instead it recommended that the university immediately undertake to enlarge the present parking facilities and that the executive com mittee of arcadia immediately go through the proper channels to the administra tion to emphasize the importance of the above decision treasurer malvern gross 54 made the substitute moiion amended by vice-president thom as maccabe 53 which the body voted in place of secretary george hopkins original car-ban motion in the final vote when gross motion was considered as the main one it passed nine to nothing with four abstentions in the course of the extensive debate retiring acting director of admissions c b campbell told arcadia that the privilege of own ing a car is an important selling point for the admissions office and that competition for students among the colleges is keen he also said he took pride in the principle that no distinction is made at lehigh between fresh men and upperclassmen and that owning a car is one of the responsibilities of manhood which freshmen should enjoy commenting on prospects for next year's freshman class camp bell said it looks terrific he noted that there has been al ready a 50 per cent inrease in applications this year over last year a large portion of the meeting was broadcast over wlrn six teen persons other than arcadia members attended the meeting in the debate preceding the parking voting each member of arcadia was allotted five min utes for speaking hopkins began by repeating his motion to ban freshman cars which had been tabled from the previous meeting he pointed out the traffic hazard of cars parked illegally because of no space in the dormitory parking lots the dozen accidents on campus this year and the estimate of 5,000 to 8,000 of the cost of paving taylor parking lot he said that the 2.0 minimum scholastic average which would be required for freshmen
