the red cross blood program for defense will set up operations on the top floor of grace hall on feb 28 and 29 in order to accom modate the large number of stu dents who have pledged to do nate blood dean wray h congdon chair man of the bethlehem committee of the red cross blood program for defense was able to secure two bloodmobile units and two complete staffs for friday feb 29 making it possible to schedule 420 donors that day on thurs day feb 28 210 donors will be scheduled in order to accommo date all the blood donor pledges negotiations are being made for a date in march the cards giving the hours of appointments have been mailed all donors ate urged to return the confirmation section of the card promptly in order to facilitate the operation each person is ask ed to report promptly at the time of his appointment persons under 21 years of age must bring their parental consent cards with them to grace hall if they have not al ready sent them in dean congdon has an nounced that where it is neces sary for a student to miss a class or part of a class he will be giv en an excuse to cover that ab sence incurred while donating blood over one-third of the student body responded to the appeal made in january by the interfra ternity council the freshman cabinet and town council the largest number of pledges from any living group is 31 from dravo d 2 thirty members of chi psi signed pledge cards fraternity men pledged 430 pints dormitory men 292 and town men 16 for a total of 738 sixty-four faculty and staff members pledged breakdown by groups frrjeriufios : alpha a freak fencing accident thursday afternoon reports he is feeling much better gottling received a puncture wound when an epee snapped as he and his paitner lunged at the same time he was discharged saturday from st luke's hospital sub-rosa conflicts between members of piice hall and broth ers of rho eta over control of the dorm were resolved at 1 a.m this morning in an unusual mid-yea election of officers rho eta men gracefully declin ed to seek office resulting in a slate sweep for price members elected were andy de chene 53 president john diercks 53 vice-president and william allen 53 secretary treasurer previously at a special house meeting called wednesday night to discuss the government of the dormitory dick mcclure 52 re signed as president allen and don ledene 53 also resigned their posts of secretary-treasurer and social chairman respectively to facilitate election of a cotiv plete new slate of officers mcclure's resignation cartie when it became apparent that ap proximately 70 per cent of the 30 dormitory residents desired a new dorm administration this group claimed that mcclure as a mettt ber of rho eta local social frater nity whose members have be^n granted permission to remain in the dormitories at least until t)te end of the year was not doing the best possible job as president in a statement to the brown and white mcclure conceded only that he had lost the confi dence of the majority of the dor mitory residents he attributed 1 , this to the water fight which took place in december and the subse quent assessment of 7.68 to each resident of price hall he also de fended the action he took in that case mcclure said that harmony in the dormitory has been as good as could be expected he claimed that if the water fight had not oc curred the movement to remove him from office would never haye begun however the fact that those who did not have any part in the water fight were asked to pay 7.68 hit w-here it hurt most in the wallet and prompted the 35 men to take the action they took they however contended that he could have consulted the dor mitory members on what to do about the forthcoming assessment they also thought he could haye seen to it that those not involved would not be assessed as much as ! the others he claims he toofe i whatever action possible to lower i the assessment and that the bills j were sent out during examina tions and that they had to be paid during registration which pre vented anything but equal distri | bution of the bill mcclure also blamed the movement on freshmen who did not appreciate me because pi necessary disciplinary action he had to take and others in the dox mitory who had a grudge against rho eta because they were not given bids furthermore mcclure stated h was a rho eta pledge when elect ed and everyone in the dormi tory was aware of that fact since only 13 in the dorm were rho eta members it could not be said that they ran the dorm mcclure add ed no complaints were made to and head of the wlrn news depart ment stated that the broadcasts are presented as a public ser vice and are in line with the sta tion's policy of keeping the le high student well-informed as to what committee for the betterment of lamberton hall faded from the picture at friday's combined meeting of scblh and the official lamberton hall com mittee af:er a period of general bick ering over price irregularities university treasurer glick put the final touch to price arguments with if scblh can show us where lamberton is out of line in prices as compared with other res taurants then we will take action and correct the matter otherwise we remain passive scblh had no answer to this when dick washer 52 sug gested that removal of the bars from the windows might improve the atmosphere of lamberton hall he received unanimous sup port the bars will be removed in the near future all agreed that atmosphere was definitely important to an eating establishment and discus sion turned to how it might be improved this left scblh out of things since it had not mentioned this aspect of lamberton in its of ficial report further suggestions as to how to eliminate that impression that town
