johnny long a crash split the usually calm campus atmosphere at 1 a.m thursday as a 41 sedan whose brakes failed smacked into an il legally parked car vaulted an embankment and came to rest on the lawn in front of lamberton hall one person was injured pajama clad students many of them bare foot came run ning to the scene when campus police arrived a crowd of more than 150 were milling about the disabled car the sedan driven by william schneider e.e 55 struck a coupe owned by bruce reinhold m.e 53 which had been parked in a no-parking zone in front of the delta tau delta house an occupant of schneider's car robert jones bus 55 suffered a badly bruised right arm and was admitted to st luke's hospital for x-rays and observation he is reported in good condition by hospital attendants johnny long's southpawed fid dle and buddy williams golden echoes will lead the semi-annual houseparty stampede scheduled to open in grace hall next friday setting for the senior class spon sored event will be october twi light newest feature of the dance will be the method of select ing the houseparty queen to get greater participation than was possible under the old plan a parade of couples present will march before the four dance chaperones they will select five girls each and from this group will be se lected a queen and her court the queen will be crowned at the nyu football game saturday pres pete nesbit i.e 52 at a meeting mon day evening in packard lab it would consist of the annual pledge banquet on friday night and the monte carlo dance on see i f council page 6 spring term enrollment to start monday pre-registration for the spring semester will start monday and continue through nov 3 registrar james h wagner in announcing the dates empha sized the importance of deciding definitely what subjects the stu dent wishes to take this spring changes are difficult to make and therefore he will be expected to take the courses for which he pre registers wagner stated he emphasized that all stu dents except those with spe cial problems such as a phy sical disability or working one's way through school must not expect exemption see spring page 7 as campus chest contribution results accumulated mark kauf mann director of publicity and education for the drive indicated disappointing results the first reports of the cam pus chest drive were exceeding ly encouraging commented kaufmann although the educa tional policy seems to have fall en down on one point the original intent of the committee was a 3 average donation this was arrived at in the full realization that al though some students would not be financially able to give that amount others could afford to give more we do not feel he contin ued that the living groupi should be penalized if one of their members can only give the 1 donation this 1 contribution should and will be counted to ward the 100 per cent goal of the living group director kaufmann added that it appears some living groups are taking advantage of this le gal technicality and thereby hit ting the 100 per cent mark the easy way certainly this is not in keeping with the true purpose of the drive we want to get as many dol lars as we can for the worthy or ganizations which are included in our drive let's try to think in terms of what we can do for others not in terms of living group pride kaufmann urged reason town men in the arcadia room in drown hall at 4 p.m freshmen who entered in june are eligible to vote balloting will be done by the hare preferential system used in the other school elections votes
