dick gabriel was the recipienf of the varsity l club award as the outstanding athlete jim gill won the bosey reiier leadership cup and herb hoover and george alteneder were joint winners of the deans service award before 500 at the annual flagpole day ceremonies wednesday these were the highlights of 18 individual awards and 28 group awards presented during the 50-minute pro * gram twenty-seven of the group awards were honor certificates for 75 per cent participation in the senior class gift plan presented by chairman tom curtis thir teen living groups had 100 per cent participation richards iii a won the idg award for the best all-around dorm section andrew planken horn president accepted the award besides the service award hoover won the dr t edgar shields music award while gabriel along with dick doyne took the pat pazzetti football cup and medal freshman bob nick also won two trophies the james c gravany freshman me morial swimming cup and the mr and mrs josiah perkins ballinger long distance swimming cup the latter was presented for the first time webb dann who as president of the class of 52 received the senior cane from this year's president al bryniarski won tha alexander king wiggin memor ial hockey trophy as the player of the year sam wilkinson was the winner of the phil mcgarih track cup i see flagpole page 3 overflow crowd attends 44th bach festival
