bel-marty simon bus 54 miss hetty kleindell jim skerritt arts 53 miss mitzi petrovits william vantuyl bus 52 and miss joan e bramble-jack kuriz bus 52 selection for the queen's court does not elimin tie them from competition ior houseparty queen judging of which will take place at 11:30 p.m frday night on the first floor of drown hall band leaders flanagan and sommer will stop playing at 11:30 and all contestants will assemble with their escorts at the right of the band stand each contestant will be introduced by the master of cere monies they will parade in front of the judges who will be seated on the band stand and on to the until final judging judges and also chaperons at the dance will be george bean chaplain paul frantz assistant to president dr allen j barthoid romance languages and dean charles seidle associate dean of stu dents bo!h floors of grace hall will be decorated to fit the theme seafarer's fantasy the lowei floor will depict the bottom of the jcean with band stand resembling a big clam shell and cutouis oi balloons and deep sea divers sus pended from the ceiling blue and green lights will also be suspend ed producing a wavy effect the iop floor will be turned see queen page 8 friday night one of these six lovely women will be chosen as houseparty queen the six finalists for the honor are col 2 upper joan bramble col 2 lower hetty kleindell col 3 upper judith wolff col 3 lower mitzi petrovits col 4 upper joan pijawka and col 4 low er marl ere schwebel with a large turnout of candi dates vying ioi positions as class officers art goldenberg chair man of the elections committee feels it ought to be a hot elec tion the election will be held on may 2 and 3 and all students will need their id cards to be able to vote voters names will be check ed against lists from the registrar's office to determine their correct class year students will vote according to class assignments as re corded in the registrar's of fice there are 720 eligible voters in the class of 54 670 in the class of 53 and 610 in the class of 52 alpha phi omega will be man ning the polls and will help to count the votes on thursday night the hare preferential ballot will be used a second election more than 100 students from 27 pennsylvania colleges combined for the fourth annual pennsylva nia intercollegiate band concert last saturday night in grace hall the concert was sponsored by the lehigh band in cooperation with the pennsylvania music educators association and the pennsylvania collegiate band masters association it was directed by dr w revelli di rector of bands at the university of michigan the program was started with emblem of the united march by richards and was followed by siegfried's rhine journey from wagner's die goiterdammerung other selections were amperi to roca by texidor dear isle of man by wood on the quarter see concert page 8 fall pre-registration deadline next friday students planning to attend the fall semester must pre-register by may 5 hours for personal con sultation with the dean are listed on the department bulletin boards students who have adequate leason for requesnng special scheduling may file a request with the office of the dean of students before may 5 otherwise students te expected to be avail able for ciantes from monday to saturday 8 a.m to 4 p.m if circumstances arise making a revision of the pre-registration ticket necessary a new ticket must be filed and marked re vised in case a student is not returning to school next semester that information should be placed in the space marked description of courses to 5 p.m and lamberton hall from noon to 1 p.m 450 students sign in protest of loyalty bill arcadia's petitions expressing disapproval of the loyalty oalh bill were sent to harrisburg sat urday with signatures of 450 students who favored voting down the proposed statute now nearing its final reading petitions began circulating thursday and were returned by noon saturday according to the specifications made by arcadia at its meeting last wednesday night one arcadian spokesman said he was not pleased jv/ith the number of signatures but added that he realized the deadline date made it difficult to obtain better results petitions were expected to have been in the hands of mm see loyalty page 7 made this result possible 2 i am fully aware of the tre mendous individual and collec tive
