measures requests co-operation of all students calling student cooperation the key to fire safety on the lehigh campus john i kirkpatrick treas urer outlined the progress of the university r i fire prevention mea sures saturday and asked practi cal assistance in letters to living group presidents with the installation of alarm systems in price and taylor halls and the library the university will have completed a major phase of its work to protect stu dents from fire in classrooms and dormitories kirkpatrick said but no system can be effective without the serious cooperation of those it is designed to protect the treasurer responsible also for safety supervision on campus pointed out that access to a burn three religions hold initial meetings radio club to teach code lehigh's amateur radio club will begin radio code classes starting tomorrow in the basement of drown hall purpose of these classes is to aid students in ob taining amateur radio licenses plans are being made by the club to enlist the aid of the arotc here in firming a station new equipment wilt be supplied by the air force for amateur use as well as training in message handling according to joe paquin club president the fcc requires a sending and receiving minimum of 13 words per minute after two weeks the class wilf be discontinued and practice will include half-hour transmissions ot code over the quota has been lowered to 210 pledges rather than the original 250 cam paign officials reported that ap proximately 30 additional signa tures are needed officials also announced that students and staff work ers under 21 are to sign their regular appointment cards and turn them in they must have their parent's release card with them on the day of blood donations in order to qualify the appointment card calls for the student's signature and when he will be available to give blood the parent's release card gives him permission to do so this changes the previous an nouncement by the red cross that students under 21 had until march 16 to pledge coach bill christian center and captain walt mackinnon right of lehigh's swimming team are presented with the trophy awarded to the winner of the middle atlantic swimming asso ciation tournament lehigh won the meet handily scoring 84 points 37 more than second-place franklin and marshall dividual medley and dela ware's arthur mayer charles lloyd and ester who set a new mark in the 300 yard medley relay the final round began auspi ciously as the blue heirs defeated the lehigh 300-medley relay team in the record time of 3:07 dela ware moved out in front in the backstroke and was never headed by the lehigh trio of bill seip pete haupt and bob hartenstine no records were broken in the 220 freestyle which followed but george
