musical guests for the val entine day program on channel 6 philadelphia included in their performance will be songs by the clefs instrumental stylings by the combo and several combined numbers featuring gus economy on guitar rudy schubert at the piano and hank clausen on string bass the cliff clef combo has appeared with the clefs several times during the last semester all three mem ers of the instrumental group have played professionally in addition to the television performance the clefs will appear at the junior prom saturday evening and will journey to bea ver college in jenkintown pa for an appearance on feb 24 all registered pennsylvania students driving a car on campus must display their registration sticker in the center of their wind shield behind the rear view mir ror according to the new regu lation laid down by the pennsyl vania state highway commission students living in other states who use their cars on campus are permitted to keep their stickers on the right rear window also closely lied in with stick ers are traffic regulations on cam pus the superintendent's office still reports a heavy toll of fines being paid by students there is nothing more we can do to keep students from violating traffic laws if they continue to park in the wrong places they will be fagged a spokesman from the identification cards student guests and wives as well as facul ty members and wives may se cure low-priced tickets at 75 cents at the registrar's office directed by charles avery who appeared on broadway in maxwell anderson's storm operation the com pany will open the program with norman holland's hap piness my goal this will be followed by two noel coward comedies red pep pers and still life the closing number will be mor ality play for the leisured class by john balderston leading lady of the company will be jan owen who played prominent parts with the national road companies of arsenic and old lace snafu glass men agerie and claudia last season she appeared on the new york stage in agatha christie's mys tery drama hidden horizons she is known for her radio char acterizations from coast to coast in such programs as the green hornet the lone ranger and this is your army roderich winchell will play opposite miss owen in the noel coward presentations his first broadway part was in mrs jan uary and mr ex with billie burke and frank craven ceil ing of the room the fiie was brought under control by attend ing firemen in about fifteen min utes by using a booster stream the fire was reported about 12:30 a.m by officer thomas malone of ihe activities gill has been president of cyanide and is now president of arcadia he is a member oi mustard and cheese omicron delta kap pa pi gamma mv and eta lack of requests for arcadia nomination petitions — only 26 have been handed out as of feb 9 — has necessitated an extension of the feb 13 deadline to feb 15 according to jack wilson chair man of the election committee it is hoped said wilson that more students will take advan tage of the extended deadline in order to make the coming elec tion a competitive contest which will be more likely to produce a maximum of capable arcadia members under the provisions of a referendum submitted to the student body at the last elec tion elections will be held during the first four weeks of the spring semester the members-elect will then take office at the first regular council meeting after the election according to wilson arcadia feels that the continuity gained warrants such a move elections will be held this year on feb 28 and march 1 present qualifications bar sen iors and students who are on scholastic or disciplinary proba tion from seeking nomination freshmen are eligible each petition must contain the names of 30 students and must be submitted to the arcadia office by tuesday feb 15 wilson also pointed out that students may sign only one petition sam harleman secretary of the council of class agents has re cently been appointed director of a campus wide blood donating program which will be conducted during late february and early march tagged for immediate use for our armed forces in korea the blood will be collected and pro cessed in one operation approxi mately 250 applicants will be ne cessary to fill the quota set by the red cross in explaining the directive of the campaign harleman said the men in korea are being told what to do we are being asked our sacrifice is small in comparison to theirs i am sure we will not let them down appointment of harleman was made by dean wray h congdon chairman of the bethlehem red cross blood program the city campaign of feb 15 has been des ignated for bethlehemites how ever if students wish to give blood at this time they may do so assisting
