stopping at ramsey high school at 10 a.m the clefs will present such numbers as dry bones with all the sound effects and the gospel train soloists bill mc culloch and ted jones have num bers prepared to sing continuing on their way the cliff clefs will give two programs at the ridgewood high school one will be at 12:30 for the students of the high school and a second at 2 o'clock for the junior high students and residents of the community included in the program will be the first pre sentation of the hong kong blues played by tom dow dell the clefs accompanist this number is a snappy tune played in the hoagy carmichael style also on the roster is a composition for male chorus and piano by dvorak there will be a num ber of novelty tunes and some old favorites to form a well rounded program lehigh's cliff clefs are helping to further the universities plan to bring the name and activities of lehigh into the cities and towns where there are prospec tive students dup o n t awards 2 fellowships two post-graduate fellowships — one in mechanical engineering the other in metallurgy — have been awarded lehigh by the dv pont company it was announced last week they were part of 78 fellow ships awarded by dv pont to 47 universities for th 1951-52 aca demic year the grants totaled 390,000 granting of the fellowships dv pont said is a continua tion of the company's plan originated in 1918 to encour age graduate research in chemistry and since expand ed to include other fields it is expected the company said that the program will help maintain the flow of technically tamed men and women into teaching and research work at universites and into technical positions in industry the post-graduate pre-doctoral fellowships each provide 1,400 for a single person 2,100 for a married person plus an award of 1,200 to the university no radical change will ber made in this year's faculty evalu ation forms when the evaluation period begins on jan 8 accord ing to jim gill arcadia presidents it was felt by arcadia mem bers stated gill that at least an other test must be made of the revised forms before definite con clusions can be drawn as to the effectiveness of the forms essen tially the evaluation period which is two weeks will be car ried out in the same manner as usual students who have been selected by the student coun cil to handle evaluation in their respective classes are requested by arcadia to ar range with the faculty mem ber in charge of the class to set aside a 20 minute period for purposes of evaluation this form says gill puts more responsibility on the stu dents attempts at evaluation since it can be of greater aid to the fa culty than the old form bach brahms greig richard strauss and tschaikovsky his playing denoted a deft touch and an understanding and appreciation of the mu sic he was protraying next in the series of the con cert-lecture committee will be the demi-tasse players sched uled for the night of feb 16 at broughal high classifications as a fourth section donahue was born in detroit 30 years ago and started his musi cal career there at the age of 16 he was soon recognized as an up and coming tenor saxophonist and in 1938 began playing for gene krupa in 1940 he joined harry james and later benny goodman in 1941 sam formed a band of his own which opened at the glen island casino art engagement which proved highly successful he then began a series of one night stands throughout new eng land until the war was de clared he then put his sax in its case and enlisted in the navy when the war ended sam war discharged and reorganized his band in 1948 his band played a five week engagement at the paramount theatre in new york and he has returned there every year since two of sam's recent recordings i never know and melan choly baby are among the more popular records on disc jockey shows around the country composer arranger band lead er saxophone player — add these accomplishments up and the re sult is sam
