something new — fire drills here among those who campaigned for the band trip to dartmouth were tom maccabe 53 arthur goldenberg 53 peter hoyt 53 herb hoover 51 and bill carson 51 treasuries have only slight sur pluses but social fraternities contri buted substantially at this writ ing 16 fraternities had announ ced pledges of 15 each many more pledges were anticipated herb hoover i.e june 51 was responsible for much of the con tacting when the motion for allocation contined on page 2 col 4 building will view the drills with bethlehem's fire chief john scwheder . any changes which may be made will then be incor porated into a permanent list of instructions drills eventually will be held in the dorms where fire instruc tions already have been posted several hundred fathers will visit the campus this weekend to help their sons celebrate lehigh's annual dad's day besides attending the le high-g el l ysb vr g football game in taylor stadium they will be entertained and fed in grand style by their sons in the various derm sections and fraternities among the outstanding plans for the weekend festivities are alpha sigma phi's bowling tour nament between fathers and sons and phi gamma delta's bridge party for the mothers and stag party for the fathers and sons most of the other dorms and fraternities will escort fathers to the game then put on a banquet buffet dinner party or some sort of informal get-together how ever their plans for this year have not been as extensive as in previous years due to the concur once with the charity ball deadline near for dates entry as h'party queen there's still time to get your date into the houseparty queen contest if your section hasn't made an entry only one entry per living group will be allowed from all of the pictures sub mitted m girls will be chesen to appear ier judging at the dance friday night five ef these will be selected as a court and ene ef this ceurt will be chesen qmeea an nouncement and crowning ci the queen will take place dur ing hall-time at the rutgers game photos addressed to the senior dance committee can be left at the arcadia office with proper identification and should be 3 by 5 inch glossy prints if possible fire drills will be held at le high this semester for the first time fire instructions have been posted recently on bulletin boards and in most clays rooms drills will take place in one 150 houses pledge os each in swift last-minute action lehigh's band will go to dartmouth action by arcadia which voted 150 toward traveling expenses by individual students who collected pledges for the same cause from fraternities and other campus organizations and by the band itself which voted to make the trip if expenses could be met made the trip possible prior to this week the band had not exdected to make the trio be cause its portion of the student activities fund had been allo cated for the trip to cleveland for the case game and for othei expenses . . with student opinion strongly in favor of the band making the trip several in dividuals worked to find means t.o make the trip pos s-ble almost at the last min ute no solicitations from individual students were possible but it was possible to accept contributions from treasuries of living groups and olher organizations dorm sections could not help as their who's next . . . 3 thermometers indicate progress of campus chest using a variation of last year's thermometer idea this year's campus chest progress board will consist of three different types of thermometers to indicate the standings of the living sec tion in the charity drive all three are located across from the front of the library the first thermometer will show the percentage of men in living groups who have given 3 or more the second will show the percentage ci men who have given any amount a third set will indi cate the relative standings ol town fraternity and dorm fifteen per cent of all funds raised by the campus chest drive will go to the bethlehem com munity chest it was announced by co-chairmen thomas maccabe and robert n bond in addition to the community chest other recipients of funds from the drive will include world student service fund 50 per cent united negro college fund 13 per cent support of d.p student 10 per cent care 5 per cent and an additional 5 per cent will go into an expenses and re serve fund emphasis is on stu dent organisations and any stu dent may earmark his contribu tion for any of the organizations listed needy students will benefit from efforts of dean seidle shown giving shine to arcadia
