registrar's office before friday march 18th they will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire re garding activities musical clubs plan concert april 20 or 21 has been sel ected as the tentative date for the presentation of men in white by mustard and cheese dramatic society joseph hop kins bus 38 head of the bus iness staff announced yester day in addition several new fem inine characters have been sel ected mrs laurence whitcomb will play the part of mrs smith mrs albert rights will take the part of barbara denin a nurse mrs william macder mott will play the part of mary mrs william jenkins will play the part of mrs jamison wife of a doctor miss diehl will play the part of louise a nurse will present play thursday may sign band name chaperones by end of this week , eugene b caller i e 39 pres ident of the junior class announ ced last evenng that the coliseum has been selected as the site of the 1938 junior prom to be held on april 22 at present the band is indefinite said caller but will be verified ; along with the names of the chap j erons and committee members within the next few days in comparing the sites of the past interfraternity ball and the approaching junior prom caller said that the coliseum had been chosen over dorney park because the rental charge would be lower at the bethlehem site and because holding the dance in town would eliminate any transportation prob lem the committee feels caller continued that the prom is more of a school function than the in terfraternity ball and as such is more democratic for that reason the dance should be held in a spot accessible to all caller promised that the ven tilation in the coliseum this year will he improved upon in addition to caller the jun ior prom committee is comprised of phillip smith bus samuel cox i e and frank jackson ch e n y hearing to include glee club soloists and orchestra a varied program that will pre sent vocal soloists a symphonic ensemble special chorus a wood wind present miss helen sigmond junior at moravian college for women was chosen queen of the constitution ball at midnight saturday in the national guard armory selected from live princesses picked by the majors of the le high r o t c faculty miss sig mond was crowned by lieut gen eral r l bullard after the prin cesses had been escorted by the majors to the stage through an arch of sabers formed by mem bers of scabbard and blade four selected princesses the girls chosen as princesses were miss odette young trapha gen school of art new york city miss evelyn lindner dumont n j betty jane sohn cedar course enrollment williams names group omicron delta kappa's sugges tion that the commencement this spring be held out of doors was referred back to the committee on educational policy yesterday after noon by the faculty a resolution concerning exam ination absences was passed by the faculty at the meeting in the fac ulty room of the alumni mem orial building the official deter mination is as follows when a student is absent from a final examination the grade of absence submitted to the regis trar's office shall be followed by a letter grade in parenthesis to represent the department's estimate of the student's work at the close of instruction in cases where de partments do not feel justified in reporting an estimated grade a grade of abs-x may be returned 38 freshmen in reading course dr h m diamond professor and head of the department of economics and sociology acting as chairman of the general educa tional advisory council reported that 28 freshmen had enrolled in the students charles h hoff man e e 38 and charles h titus e e 38 will speak economist tells of need for more knowledge of current events praises foreign policy the united states may not be able to keep out of a european war even if it wants to stated dr otto nathan associate professor of economics at the new york uni versity graduate school in a lec ture friday night in packard audi torium sponsored by the interna tional relations club he also praised the american policy of avoiding entangling alli ances with oth^f nations but he said that united states citizens should become better informed on current events and their underly ing features hitler favors expansion the crucial problem in europe today the speaker stated is the question of exactly what germany wants in hitler's recent speech he declared himself for expansion and the return of colonies which ger mans heretofore have been glad to be rid of since they were only an expense to the country but even with this declaration hitler had not said whether he will turn east or west to expand the peace of europe hangs on this at the present time it looks as though he were preparing for an attack on russia he has been try ing to ally austria though not very successfully and he has many interests working in rumania and other small eastern european countries as well as italy all this points toward russia that may be why england is willing to consider a contract with germany and italy germany desires provinces but it is my own belief that this move is simply a trick on the part of hitler and that his real plan is to strike a blow at ger many's age-old enemy france and get her rich northern provinc es as well as some valuable co lonial possessions this would make the case entirely different for england but i also expect to see italy again turn from germany and go with france in such an event just as she did in the world war there are too many economic antagon isms between germany and italy for them to unite o aero club to see film on aviation the aero club will present a picture flying the lindbergh trail at their meeting at 8 p m wednesday in packard auditorium the picture was prepared under the direction of the pan-american airlines and depicts the operations of the line on their difficult routes all those interested in seeing this picture are invited to attend faculty rifle club chooses team for competition the faculty rifle club will meet the freshman team at 8:30 o'clock tonight in both standing and prone positions this will be the fourth annual meeting of the two teams the freshmen have won all three the national labor relations board should be empowered to enforce arbitration of all industrial disputes will be the question debated warren w ache met e 40 and henry g werner eng phys 40 will represent the university in upholding the negative case the university of florida speakers who are senior law students will be george amathers and ben krentzman other opponents met on the trip by the florida speakers are duke university washington and jef ferson college university of penn sylvania university of pittsburgh rutgers university and pennsyl vania state college dr wray h congdon director of admissions will preside a vote of opinion will be taken before and after the debate to determine the winner 4 pelleas and melisande is free to faculty and student body students will be
