scenes of bad lands have intial showing in eastern states the first exhibition in the east ern states of thirty-three paint ings of various angles of the bad lands of north dakota by paul e barr will be displayed until jan 23 in the lehigh art gal lery the exhibit was first shown at north dakota state university where mr barr is associated with the fine arts department and comes here directly from bis | marck n d according to garth a howland head of the department of fine arts the paintings are significant from historical and geological as well as aesthetic and artistic points of view mr barr was the first to see color form and pic turesqueness in the bad lands i as his paintings reveal by their un i usual technique he stated that j these paintings rank high as works of art named by french
