practice and an application of these methods in a conscious deliberate scientific way he continued by encouraging the building up of a social appar atus whereby these methods could be applied in the best possible manner on the plane of the indi vidual the group and the society at large must find philosophy we should discover a philoso phy that should be pervious to science that will accept the scien tific belief to make us aware that there is unity underlying the di versity of this world huxley ad vised this in saying direct in tuition makes us aware that the world is not only one but su premely valuable and significant the fundamental ethical vir tues that huxley stressed were love and understanding these are the primary virtues which must be used as a basis for sec ondary virtues
