exercises eight hundred and twenty-five applications for admission in sep tember have been received to date anounced dr wray h congdon director of admissions last year the figures on june 1 totaled 650 which shows an increase this year of 175 applications the tentative number of freshmen that will be admitted will not exceed 540 the committee on admissions is now working on the question of ways and means for making better selections of applicants the aim of the committee is to select men who are fit for college work and who will stay in school the four years on may 1 the applications received this year were in excess of 40 per cent over the same period last year because of the larger number of applicants this year the selections for admission will be stricter than they were last
