company in com petition 3:45 p m assembly at stacks awarding of prizes retreat regimental parade and review radio concert will be given glee club to broadcast final air program at wcau studio ten plaques designed as shown above will be awarded to the first-place win ners in the ten classifications of the lehigh press conference contest the printing press casting the wreath and the identification plate are of bronze mounted on a mahogany board six inches wide by eight inches deep the ten second - place plaques are much similar to the winners plaques the only differences are the absence of the wreath and the size of the mahog any board which is 5"x7 students aid at conference 24 brown and white staff men address the delegates the glee club will present a fif teen minute concert over the colum bia broadcasting system at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon forty mem bers of the club are making the trip to philadelphia tomorrow morning to sing in the wcau-columbia stu dios there dr t edgar shields professor of music will direct the club in a pro gram of eight songs hal e towne arts 37 president-manager is in charge of arrangements and c y haas ch e 38 is accompanist the double quartet from the club will sing one song the program opens with hail the college van vleck and closes with the alma mater tomorrow's broadcast is the final radio appearance of the club this year previous programs were pre sented over the other two major national networks o fraternity to meet here the lehigh chapter of theta kappa phi social fraternity will be host to an eastern province high school headed the representatives with a delegation of 44 dr neil carothers dean of col lege of business administration addressed the group relating some of his experiences with newspaper men he spoke highly of the car toon phase of journalism which plays such an important part in the making of today's history cartooning he continued is the greatest agency for spreading pub licity and propaganda among the people of a nation dean carothers has written many articles for newspapers on current economic problems including over 30 articles for the herald tribune he told of several experiences with newspapermen which occurred dur ing his trip with col frank knox last summer the guest speaker and artist of the conference was russ westover creator of tillie the toiler who stressed the importance of original and novelty ideas in newspaper scoops he illustrated his lecture with drawings of his comic strip characters mac and tillie and also characterizations of dale gramley
