in 18 seconds hagerman bows to taylor lehigh will witness the first round table conference of organization leaders in its history monday night when organization leaders will gather in drown hall at the call of karl jacobi president of arcadia to discuss methods of strengthening the student council in an effort to seek suggestions how to revise the student council's constitution so as to make it the actual governing body of student affairs a power now believed only theoretically granted to it the conference will consider suggestions of amalgamation and other means to drastically revise arcadia's power as granted to it four years ago by the faculty lehigh's fourth rhodes scholar nelson j leonard ch e 37 will play the lead in the spring musical to be given by mustard and cheese leonard will take the part of a farm boy who goes to an en gineering school the announcement of the selec tion was made today by albert a rights instructor in english who will direct the show leonard was chosen after several weeks of ex tensive try-outs the complete cast of almost 50 including two choruses will be an nounced later there are 14 speak ing parts in the production which scabbard and bond resistance and the effect of different types of deformations on bars has complet ed 350 tests in the fritz laboratory in doing this he has made 300 pull out tests and 50 beam tests com prising the pull out values with the beam values the results of these tests show conclusively that the pull out test is a poor measure of the bond re sistance of bars and that by increas ing the concrete strength the bond resistance of the bars is increased considerably wernish is also making plastic flow studies of concrete beams ap plying a constant force to the beams these tests have shown that the status deflection has increased 100 percent in five months and that the deformations in the concrete are increasing constantly major collins who will address the forum on the spanish war military lab than ever before because of the abundance of good material en tered from the nine member teams and because of the upsets that have occured this season in dual meet competition intercollegiate champions have been dethroned by inexperienced men and the sophomores on many teams who are new to the sport have made excellent records but have not as yet competed in inter collegiate championships by which their ability may be judged the following selection of possi ble champions and the strongest contenders for titles in each weight are based merely on the past rec ord of the various wrestlers in the 118-pound class there are three outstanding men in search of the title fred stegmaier perm state richard palmer princeton and mallon yale stegmaier has won five of his seven bouts and dropped the other two to foshay of princeton and ward of cornell princeton's palmer defeated mal lon the other serious contender for that weight with a 9:50 time ad vantage in his first meet of the year mallon of yale ran up against tough opposition in lehigh's walt allen but defeated him in the overtime periods two captains and two undefeated wrestlers one twice winner of an intercollegiate title are among the four outstanding men entered in the 126-pound division lehigh's captain ashman the intercollegiate champion is defending his title backed by an undefeated record this season in nine dual meets dick harding the tiger hope was only beaten by ashman and that was the first time in six years of wrestling that he has been con quered kinne the yale captain has an equally formidable record for this season john craighead of state whose twin brother frank was defeated by ashman is also undefeated to date zazzi strongest 135-pounder no one is defending the 135-pound title this year and representatives from the three leading wrestling teams in the meet plus syracuse have men entered who have made excellent showings this year mark wolcott has only been defeated by zazzi of state but he drew with deme of syracuse in overtime per iods zazzi seems to be the strongest contender for the title as he is un defeated among the eastern teams but he lost to finwall chicago's big ten champion deme has won six lost one to zazzi and tied one with wolcott henry perry of princeton is the other undefeated member in the 135-pound division jack light the nittany lion's intercollegiate champion in the 135 pound class in 1935 and 1936 is the favored wrestler to win the 145 pound title light has been unde feated in three years of eastern in tercollegiate wrestling lehigh's hagerman was defeated by light on a 2:31 time advantage and at present is considered by many to have an excellent chance at the title after his performance in the last two dual meets which proved his endurance and fighting spirit two other serious threats are elms of columbia and pennsylvania's undefeated captain don taylor the 155-pound title will be de fended by dick bishop who lost only one bout this season that to powers of princeton by a referee's decision on a 1:02 time advantage dick did not meet state's calvin in the dual meet and the latter is with a few bouts remaining to be wrestled in the 2nd round of the e i w a championships being held in taylor gymnasium this af ternoon lehigh had made a good start toward regaining the crown it lost to perm state last year the first two rounds ran true to form with all of the defending champions winning bouts dick bishop lehigh's defending champion in the 155-lb class scored the most impressive victory of the afternoon by pinning gertmanian of syracuse in 18 seconds after the bout had gone to periods syracuse the darkhorse of the tournament took an early lead in scoring by gaining four falls to give a total of four points towards the end of the afternoon bouts prince ton had also scored four falls to catch up to the orange robert allman perm's blind 118 pounder threw his first round op ponent ross of harvard with a bar arm and chancery in 2:30 he will wrestle walt allen of lehigh in the semi-finals tonight jack light of state 135-lb title holder last year out at 145 in this meet scored his first fall in inter collegiate wrestling when he threw walker of yale with a cradle hold in 8:55 weighing in and drawings for the opening bouts were completed this morning preliminary matches were run off this afternoon and will be followed by the semi-final bouts tonight the finals will start at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and the place bouts will go on immed iately afterward competition to be keen competition will be extremely keen this year due to the powerful teams that are entered by the mem bers of the association last year at princeton the nittany lions nosed out lehigh by one point for the eastern team crown princeton followed closely four points behind it is due to these results and those of the dual meet records of these three teams this season that again we look to perm state princeton and lehigh to be the big three in the scoring honors tomorrow after noon when the finals end upsets in the past meets have made the task of picking champions practically an impossible one teams that have fought their way through a victorious dual meet season with a finely balanced line up have lost to an apparently weak er aggregation comparative team scores are rendered worthless be cause of the high premium on indi vidual championships there are 11 undefeated men competing in these championships perm state leads the list with five and pennsylvania harvard prince ton syracuse and lehigh have only one each those
