activities fraternity announced today that points toward membership of o d k must be submitted to him at the delta tau delta house before noon monday the point committee which will go over the said the changes and additions are the results of our effort to make the o d k point system more evenly distributive more equally rewarding and on the whole more comprehensive in scope the general broadcast sunday night over wabc each of the schools participating columbia rutgers lehigh and n y u was represented by a winner foote wrote his s o s num ber especially for the contest he spent however only a short time on the winning song although he is taking an engineering course he has selected music as his career playing the trumpet he leads a band of his own in his home town of bloomsburg lopez , before announcing the names of the composers remarked i have been convinced through this contest that the writers of the hit tunes of tomorrow are the college song writers of today lopez to orchestrate tunes at the same time next sunday night and over the same station lo pez will play the winning numbers these songs will be orchestrated published and given every oppor tunity to lincoln the american moses he was the principal speaker at the services conducted by the aleph zadik aleph national jewish youths fraternity taking the place of rabbi jerome mark in his talk scoblionko a bethle hem attorney stated that lincoln was a great states man a great lawyer an unusual wit a diplomat of the first order a man with a soul no one may question this day being the one hundredth anniversary of lincoln's admittance to the illinois bar i might say that his career may be a shining stan dard and inspiration to every mem ber of that profession scoblionko was graduated from the university of pennsylvania law school in 1935 nathan spilberg arts 38 of ficiated at the service held by the fraternity cornelius returns visited 2 alumni groups to ask for funds nelson j leonard ch e 37 chairman of the committee on crit icisms has announced that the com mittee will start functioning on criticism of the faculty and the ad ministration next month the com mittee consists of senior members of tau beta pi national honorary engineering fraternity and phi beta kappa national honorary scholastic fraternity the committee was formed last march with the purpose of sending the faculty and administration con structive criticism on the contents and conduct of courses the admin istration and faculty activities stu dents submit their criticisms to the committee which debates upon them if the required two-thirds of the committee vote in favor of the criticisms the chairman sends a re port of it to the proper officials of the administration to start in march the committee is unable to begin activity officially until march be cause phi beta kappa does not elect its members until that time tau beta pi however elects its members as early as the fall of their junior year leonard has asked the senior members of tau beta pi to begin to formulate criticisms now so that they can be presented to the entire committee at its first meeting the chairman said i hope all students will seriously consider con structive criticism of faculty or ad ministration and be prepared to present them before the committee in march it was also announced that the student criticism could eith er be presented in person before the committee or could be given to a member and have him present the case dean c m mcconn announced that 21 freshmen have sent in their applications for the program on general education he expects that the number will be increased by feb 18 which is the last day that applications will be received the enrollment cards are to be turned in to prof h m diamond chairman of the committee the new course will be able to accom modate about 35 members which averages approximately three stu dents to an adviser the total enrollment however depends upon the number of fresh men who apply for the course if the number exceeds the maximum limit a selection method will be used to determine the final enrollment o pi mil epsilon to hear lecture by g templeman washing ton where he had visited lehigh alumni clubs in connection with the drive to raise funds for the chem istry building annex on wednesday evening he was the guest of honor at an oyster roast held by the baltimore club and on friday lunched with the of ficers of the washington club the rest of his visit was spent in seeing alumni in those two cities about in dividual contributions cornelius had previously spent ten days in pittsburgh with alumni there to secure their contributions and pledges for the building fund he held the presidency of the carnegie steel company at 35 and four years later andrew carnegie and j p morgan chose him to head the u s steel merger to carnegie's buzz saw as the dynamic schwab was called the morgans offered 1,000,000 annual salary which equalled the offer of krupp's of germany who also wanted his services joined u s steel schwab it is said adequately solved the problem by tearing up the morgan's contract and designat ing a salary of 1,000,000 a year for himself but he was not to remain long with u s steel i was not happy there he said with mr carnegie i was a czar in the steel corporation i had too many bosses and one of them was leonard ch e 37 chairman of the committee on crit icisms has announced that the com mittee will start functioning on criticism of the faculty and the ad ministration next month the com mittee consists of senior members of tau beta pi national honorary engineering fraternity and phi beta kappa national honorary scholastic fraternity the committee was formed last march with the purpose of sending the faculty and administration con structive criticism on the contents and conduct of courses the admin istration and faculty activities stu dents submit their criticisms to the committee which debates upon them if the required two-thirds of the committee vote in favor of the criticisms the chairman sends a re port of it to the proper officials of the administration to start in march the committee is unable to begin activity officially until march be cause phi beta kappa does not elect its members until that time tau beta pi however elects its members as early as the fall of their junior year leonard has asked the senior members of tau beta pi to begin to formulate criticisms now so that they can be presented to the entire committee at its first meeting the chairman said i hope all students will seriously consider con structive criticism of faculty or ad ministration and be prepared to present them before the committee in march it was also announced that the student criticism could eith er be presented in person before the committee or could be given to a member and have him present the case dean c m mcconn announced that 21 freshmen have sent in their applications for the program on general education he expects that the number will be increased by feb 18 which is the last day that applications will be received the enrollment cards are to be turned in to prof h m washing ton where he had visited lehigh alumni clubs in connection with the drive to raise funds for the chem istry building annex on wednesday evening he was the guest of honor at an oyster roast held by the baltimore club and on friday lunched with the of ficers of the washington club the rest of his visit was spent in seeing alumni in those two cities about in dividual contributions cornelius had previously spent ten days in pittsburgh with alumni there to secure their contributions and pledges for the building fund he held the presidency of the carnegie steel company at 35 and four years later andrew carnegie and j p morgan chose him to head the u s steel merger to carnegie's buzz saw as the dynamic schwab was called the morgans offered 1,000,000 annual salary which equalled the offer of krupp's of germany who also wanted his services joined u s steel schwab it is said adequately solved the problem by tearing up the morgan's contract and designat ing a salary of 1,000,000 a year for himself but he was not to remain long with u s steel i was not happy there he said with mr carnegie i was a czar in the steel corporation i had too many bosses and one of them was
