inspection tour through new york and vicinity under the guidance of h g payrow assistant professor of sanitary engineering the seniors on the tour are j m berutich r y bodine cm chase r e crispen c w treatment plant in the world was inspected this morning while this afternoon the ocean liner s s normandie and a new steel building at rockefeller center are being visited by the le high engineers for tomorrow the program includes an inspection of the sixth avenue subway between 40th and 47th street and of the new newark station of the pennsylva nia railroad alfred v bodine eng 40 was elected meeting will be held dec 2 and plans will be made for a freshman class dance a fresh man representative to arcadia will also be elected film game plans rehearsals company plans movie for employees dramatics club schedules practices for play the orchestra for the interfrater nity ball on feb 6 will be selected by a vote of the fraternity men it was decided at a meeting of the in terfraternity council last night in drown hall on monday ballots will be given to each fraternity house and the members will be asked to list the or der of their preference for eight orchestras which are within the price range of the council the or chestras on which the students will vote are will osborne russ mor gan red nichols ozzie nelson vincent lopez eddie duchin glen gray or kay keyser votes must be returned to the lehigh union of fice in drown hall on dec 3 the council also decided to make up one third of the charity tea dance deficit and went on record as favoring continuance of the series a petition will be sent to the fac ulty by the council requesting them to deny graduation to any student who is indebted to his fraternity five freshmen were penalized for disobedience of freshman regula tions at the meeting of the sopho more vigilante committee last night at the delta upsilon fraternity house frank rabold president of the sophomore class announced that r c lux arts 40 f d pierce bus 40 i v bugg eng 40 and w c lewis eng 40 would wear signs saying i will wear my dink or 1 was a wise frosh robert muir bus 40 was ordered to wear a red ribbon on his dink these penalties will be enforced for one week two other freshmen who were not pres ent at the meeting were dismissed with a warning when the committee meets on dec 2 c e eaton eng 40 r a nordt bus 40 and m stefko eng 40 and any other freshmen who may be apprehended for breaking a regulation will appear before it for trial at the same time the ones who were penalized last night will again be present so that a check may be made on how they have conformed to the penalties students organize new poetry club to conduct discussions of current poems discuss problems of junior class cyanide members meet after initiation yesterday morning 826 students received valentines sent out by the registrar's office signifying deficien cy in some courses states w h bohning assistant registrar this represents 51 percent of the student body and a very slight in crease in the proportion of men re ceiving valentines in the fall of 1935 when 728 out of 1420 received them of the total number 90 arts and science students 195 business ad ministration students and 541 en gineering students received the warnings yesterday among the en gineeting departments the valentine receivers are divided as follows freshman engineers 213 chemists and chemical engineers 76 civil engineers 19 electrical engineers 6z engineering physicists ll in dustrial engineers 69 metallurgical engineers z mechanical engineers 54 mining engineers 9 and sani tary enginers none of the total of 826 men receiving the warnings from the registrar 91 are dormitory men 444 fraternity men and 291 belong to the town group even though the percentage of men receiving valentines is slightly less this semester than that of last fall it is considerably less than the percentages of the years preceeding when in 1934 635 out of 1323 re ceived valentines in 1933 743 out of 1313 in 1932 757 out of 1347 in 1931 867 out of 1468 and in 1930 967 out of 1529 the registrar's office does not continue to publish a ranking list of living groups and the men in them successful brown and white grid season in over a decade before 14,000 specta tors saturday afternoon in fisher stadium easton the victory mark ed the third consecutive defeat of a maroon eleven at the hands of a harmeson-coached team the victory is also significant in that it is the first time since 1918 that a brown and white grid team has made it three in a row over the leopard and the second time since the turn of the century the foot ball team won six out of eight games played this season while la fayette won but one game out of nine starts for the poorest season in maroon grid history pennauchi scores with lou pennauchi and joe walton going over in rapid succes sion in the third period culminating 50 and 70 yard marches respective ly and jack hoppock adding to the score early in the fourth quarter the husky brown and white team dispelled any doubts that the fans might have had during the first half as to the final outcome of the game lehigh accounted for nine first down to five for lafayette one of the latter being the result of a for ward pass lehigh ground out 209 yards through scrimmage to 110 for lafayette while lafayette attempt ed 15 passes to lehigh's one makes 3 stands the varsity was set back on its heels early in the first quarter due to the outstanding punting of ken lackey maroon back and was forced to defend its own goal line within the 20 yard line no less than three times during the first half twice fritz bayer intercepted leopard passes in the shadow of the goal posts and on the third occa sion lehigh held for downs with lafayette in possession of the ball on lehigh's 42-yard line late in the first period zowchowski maroon back faded back and pass ed to kanzler who caught the ball on lehigh's 25 and proceeded to the 10 where he lateraled to weysser taught at perm state for two years after graduating he was then given his present position as a research engineer the lehigh - lafayette football game saturday will serve as a back ground for part of a motion picture film being produced at lehigh for the westinghouse club at pitts burgh shots of the game will be used to stress the athletic side of college life these shots will be part of a film depicting the transition between college life and employment in the westinghouse electric manufactur ing company which in recent years has been guided by the club a colored film to trace the his tory of the westinghouse company will show first the home life of a young man then his college life and finally that period which depicts the change from individual prominence of a man in his college days to those first years of loneliness as a small cog in the wheels of a great industrial organization the lehigh side of the film will show a student in class room work and engaged in extra-curricular ac tivities these shots will be included in the entire film the life of ri ley by the westinghouse com pany the principals of the film and the locales of the filming have not been determined as yet with the excep tion of the above mentioned le high-lafayette game shots the work will be carried on through the cooperation of the lehigh alumni association cyanide junior honorary society held its monthly meeting last night at the delta upsilon fraternity house the meeting was preceeded by an initiation banquet following a discussion of the problems confronting the junior class employed in the office of the lehigh cafeteria lehigh working out of danger — lehigh advancing — lehigh scoring 0 pennauchi apparently stopped on the 27-yard line in the course of lehigh's 68 yard drive for the first touchdown on this play however pennauchi got away for 7 more yarda before he was stopped on lafayett's 20 7 pennauchi on the next play is shown as he shook off a lafayette tackier on the one-yard line to complete a 20-yard run for lehigh's first score throughout the game 4 ellstrom away for 18 yards from lafayette's 26 to the 8-yard line in a drive resulting in the second touchdown it was one of seven plays that carried the ball from the leopard 46-yard line and culminated in a touchdown 5 walton scvores after two line bucks had netted about a yard the end-around play was good for 7 yards and 6 points 1 bayer running back an intercepted lafayette pass during the first half while deep in lehigh territory 2 bayer intercepts a leopard pass on the goal line in the
