welker e e 38 prof s s seyfert head of the electrical engineering department made a short address concerning the aims and purposes of the society in his talk professor seyfert said that only juniors attending surgeon and dr f o zillessen pathologist both of the easton hospital easton collaborated in addresses on peptic ulcers and cancers of the breast and stomach dr zillessen described the dis eases themselves and dr correll described their diagnosis and treat ment peptic ulcers are those found in the stomach and small intestine symptoms include easily located centers of pain and loss of weight due to the lack of desire to eat fi nal diagnosis is often made by means of x-rays surgery is the ra tional correction treatment said dr vorrell the so-called side-tracking operation is often used here the ulcer is isolated by preventing the ulcerated portion from acting as a food tract where convenient the ulcer may be excised explains ulcers dr zillessen explained that when cells both institutions to promote friendly relations be tween the two groups and prevent acts of violence under the guise of school spirit particularly during the week preceding the lehigh-lafay ette game the text of the agreement is as follows whereas we believe the feeling between the student bodies should be friendly rather than hos tile and whereas we the two undersign ed organizations representing our respective student bodies regret the part that our students have played in such actions be it therefore resolved that we the lafayette student council and we the arcadia of lehigh uni versity representing the student body of lehigh university do all in our powers to prevent any actions in the future which may be taken as intending to lower the other school in the eyes of the public or in the eyes of either student body such actions to include the defacing either of the property of the insti tution or that property in its im mediate vicinity bt it further resolved that a joint committee of 3 men from each institution be created the duty of this committee shall be to foster friendly relations between the two colleges plans for enforcing the agree ment were made at a recent meet ing of the joint committees the arcadia representatives announced that any student of that institution caught painting property would be brought before arcadia and pun ished feelings between the lafayette student council and arcadia and between student bodies of both schools have been much improved and i hope it continues by coopera tion of students of both schools stated karl m jacobi bus 37 ary electrical engineering fraternity wednesday at the chapel exercises the students pledged were stan ley s paist e e 37 charles hoffman e e 38 john ober holtzer e e 38 john a cooney e e 38 and john welker e e 38 prof s s seyfert head of the electrical engineering department made a short address concerning the aims and purposes of the society in his talk professor seyfert said that only juniors and seniors may be pledged to eta kappa nu and that they must be electrical engin eers in the highest fourth of their class the purpose of the society is to honor deserving men and to make the attending surgeon and dr f o zillessen pathologist both of the easton hospital easton collaborated in addresses on peptic ulcers and cancers of the breast and stomach dr zillessen described the dis eases themselves and dr correll described their diagnosis and treat ment peptic ulcers are those found in the stomach and small intestine symptoms include easily located centers of pain and loss of weight due to the lack of desire to eat fi nal diagnosis is often made by means of x-rays surgery is the ra tional correction treatment said dr vorrell the so-called side-tracking operation is often used here the ulcer is isolated by preventing the ulcerated portion from acting as a food tract where convenient the ulcer may be excised explains ulcers dr zillessen explained that when cells multiply at a greater than normal rate and without a normal cause the growth is a tumor or a cancer these growths if not treat ed replace normal tissue and re sult in death dr correll stated that the whole secret of successful treatment lies in the early removal of the mal ignant growth before it reaches ad vanced stages this is true for both breast and stomach cancers while cancer of the breast
