on campaign illegality following is a correction of a statement made by thomas gari han arcadia judge of the recent class elections to the brown and white i should like to correct a mis statement appearing in the brown and white under my name de claring that the president of a class acted illegally under a rul ing that there should be no campaigning by a senior there is no such ruling by arcadia re gardless of how the election com mittee personally felt i had sin cerely hoped this would be made clear t k garihan with but four living groups ob jecting arcadia student governing body voted wednesday night to legalize combines in all future uni versity elections and appointed a committee to draw up regulations for combine - controlled elections the meeting was held in drown hall charges and counter charges concerning illegal practices in the recent election preceded the vote on the motion introduced by fred w walker i e 37 chi psi repre sentative to change the electoral system the resolution was adopted by a vote of 33-4 with alpha kappa pi pi lambda phi theta kappa phi and theta xi voting to retain the old system prohibiting com bines garihan offers resolutions thomas garihan bus 36 judge of the recent elections who claimed on tuesday that he had evidences of illegal campaigning submitted two rules for future ballots that the names of the voter's living group be required on the ballot and that the president of the election board be given the power to disqualify any candidate violating the rules no action has been taken on these suggestions robert m eichner i e 36 re tiring president of the senior class charged that election officers sta tioned in drown hall during the bal loting may 5 failed to check off the names on the registry lists as re 38 stated i feel that com bines really existed in the last elec tion so i see nothing wrong in le galizing them the president of the class of 39 frank rabold answered it seems to me that if you do that sort of thing you're bound to get the strongest in office because if all the living groups band together they will refuse to support a man who's inferior i believe that it's bound to give the of news ingenuity and originality of course interviews were few and feature writing was low in quality these and a general drop in all around ability gave the brown and white a score of 745 as compared with 800 received last year in spite of a bad start the paper has shown noticeable improvement during this past semester while the paper failed to secure one third place in the fall
