claims made in fa vor of it and then settled itself about its own business of being the gayest entertainment put on at le high in many a moon ralph skedgell's perfect blend of music and comedy is one that pro fessional producers could well copy the music is excellent and the hu morous interludes are so properly placed and timed as to get the max imum of pleasurable results with out ever becoming tedious tunes are fresh if i were to say skedgell's music is unoriginal it would be because no music is original his lyrics for the most part are undistinguished but his tunes have a freshness and sparkle that set all feet tapping and all lips humming if you were the earth is a haunting ballad and the oft-repeated theme where is the moon is a dreamy sentimental song i gotta yen is as catchy a num ber any one would ever want to dance to my love is true is a swell blues song and the love i want is just right for a torch sing er the music is on a par with any ever written for an amateur show adopts new rule easing requirements for freshmen green to speak april 30 thursday april 30 was the date set by the faculty for the annual sophomore engineering comprehen sive examinations at a meeting held yesterday afternoon in the faculty room of the administration build ing at the same meeting the faculty adopted the rule as presented by the committee on standing of stu dents that a first semester fresh man who passes fewer than eleven hours shall be put on probation the previous ruling concerning the fact that freshmen not passing six hours shall be dropped from the university was rescinded it was announced that at the next meeting of the faculty educational club april 20 major james o green head of the department of military science and tactics will ad dress the group on the purpose of military training in college prof r p more associate pro fessor of german read a paper and review of the graduate work at le high since its founding in 1866 as the american association of uni versity professors of accounting his duties with the committee will be the framing of the policies of the organization the original association was formed 20 years ago and its mem bership included chair man of the national interfraternity council and national president of beta theta pi traced the history of the fraternity idea from its incep tion more than 150 years ago to the present day in all its phases he asserted there has been a com mon objective and a spirit common to all groups external differences are over emphasized he explained some 460 separate fraternities now exis tent in the world each believe they have their individual secret hand shake for example but fraternity men have only five fingers to a hand and it is hard to imagine 460 different ways of twisting those five hall auditorium had been filled when only standing room was left many students gave up their seats to young ladies and their escorts by 8:30 spectators were sitting on the windowsills rad iators tables and banisters and others were standing along the walls 700 crowd hall when the more than capacity crowd of 700 persons had been jam med into the auditorium the com mittee began turning
