The film portrayed various events from many different parts of the world, all taking place on Oct.10, 2010. The scenes for the film were not only shot by filmmakers, but also by people who heard about it and were inspired to participate by recording their experiences for one day. According to the description on the website, “The collaboration was the first ever simultaneous filming event occurring in every country of the world… this unique film [was] created from over 3000 hours of footage, and shot by our community in every country of the world on October 10, 2010.” It was roughly divided up into many different sections, including a part about food, the environment, animals, love, culture, recreation, poverty and water. Clips centered on these themes. By SAMANTHA ORLAN On Monday morning, 700 second graders, and 200 teachers and parents of the Success Academy Charter Schools in New York City visited Lehigh as part of a program that is intended to instill dreams of attending college at an early age. “We attend these college tours to make college real for the students and make them excited about college,” said Ava Ferenca, a teacher from Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. By JULIO RAMIEREZ Lehigh hosted the “Strive for Excellence” awards banquet, the first-ever event held of its kind, at Iacocca Hall Monday night. The banquet was held to honor the black student organizations on campus, and awards were given out to multiple students and staff members involved with these organizations. The student organizations in attendance were the African Caribbean Culture Club; the Black Student Union; the National Association of Black Accountants; the National Society of Black Engineers; the Omicron Kappa Chapter; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated; Participation, Academics & Campus Life and the Manufacturers Resource Center.
