athletic policy is criticized by students campus leaders differ in opinion concerning football games with larger colleges riviere tempest roessle keck bishop give comments the consensus of opinion of prominent men on the campus con cerning the athletic policy forward ed by the arcadia at its last meeting is that this proposed policy should be supported in its entirety by the student body the policy condemns the sched uling of games with large colleges principally for gate receipts but recommends the scheduling of games with natural rivals such as princeton and lafayette it states that the financial responsibility which would accompany this change should be taken over by the uni versity as well as by the alumni who do not approve of the present scheduling policy burt riviere president of omi cron delta kappa senior honorary fraternity said that lehigh should have at least three big games dur ing the season because of the en joyment with which students look forward to such games tempest approves policy i agree whole-heartedly said j a tempest editor in chief of the epitome with the athletic policy of the arcadia as published in the tuesday issue of the brown and white i agree with and fully support the proposed athletic policy stat ed j j roessle editor in chief of the burr i am in accord with the policy set forth by arcadia j a auf hammer mustard and cheese pres ident said but i cannot see how it can be accompished at present i support arcadia's proposed athletic policy in full f d keck senior class president stated we heartily endorse arcadia's policy and we believe that it ex presses campus sentiment we^hope to see some definite action before lehigh athletics sink to a lower level said b l bishop junior class president and p j flanigan president of the brown key so ciety sigma xi to conduct experiment lecture physics professor will speak on photo cells sigma xi honorary research fra ternity will hold a demonstration lecture at 8:30 tonight in packard auditorium the lecture is open to the public the program will consist mainly of experiments with the photo-elec tric cell to be conducted by the fol lowing members of the physics de partment prof p l bayley p b carwile a r frey c r larkin c e berger maurice ewing and max peterson playing a small organ by means of the photo-electric cell will be one of the tricks that professor larkin will perform light effects of high frequency discharges of 2,000 volts will be shown by professor frey the heating and lighting effects of low frequency alternating currents will be demonstrated by done the best under the circumstances that any coach could have done placed in the same situation he and his staff have upheld the lehigh pol icy as dictated he has played the game fairly and has done series it will mark the cul mination for each team of an un satisfactory season in which each team met opponents far above its own class both teams are in splendid con dition tonight as they await the opening whistle to continue the sec ond oldest football series in the country the series which started in 1884 is second only to the yale harvard games the brown and white will en ter tomorrow's game with the most favorable situation enjoyed in sev eral years although in the past three lehigh-lafayette encounters the seasonal records were useless in selecting the favorite or winner last year when the leopards boasted one of its strongest teams ever the brown and white had the leopards defeated until the last five minutes of play when the le high team crumbled and lafayette scored a touchdown to take the game neither team favored neither team is ruled the favorite tonight among the followers of each instiution interest in the game was not up to par as the advance ticket sale indicated only a crowd of 10,000 the capacity of the lafayette memorial stadium is 18,000 lehigh will conclude practice for the year this afternoon with a very light signal drill and a brief review of the lafayette packard auditor ium great artists have been able by intuition to look into the future says professor howland because there - are indications in works of painters and sculptors of past ages that they artist being typ ical of the age will be explained by garth a howland assistant pro fessor of fine arts in the second university lecture entitled the artist as a prophet at 8 o'clock monday night in packard auditor ium great artists have been able by intuition to look into the future says professor howland because there - are indications in works of painters and sculptors of past ages that they have forseen events that have since occurred motion pictures will be shown of great paintings that are examples of the prophetic power of artists numerous examples will be cited from the history of art of the sen sitiveness which artists possess professor howland will also show how the tastes and thoughts of an age have been molded greatly by the artists living in that age professor howland has been con fined to his room for the last two weeks by illness it is only within the last few days that he has been able to conduct his classes in a convention opens at gettysburg brown and white
