side restau rants are now accepting lehigh's south mountain goldplus enabling students to eat off-cam pus in conjunction with their nor mal eating plans among the new additions to the program are goosey gander deja brew new street bridge works campus pizza tulum and louie's cafe students and local merchants say they are happy about the new eating options available janna poffenberger 05 said she is particularly excited about sandwich shop deja brew accept ing goldplus i'm really glad that deja brew is accepting goldplus she said i really love the atmosphere there jeff vaclavik of deja brew said we've definitely seen an increase of a lot more new faces coming in and some of our regu lars coming more often now the goldplus addition has defi nitely been a plus for us as more local restaurants are becoming available to students as goldplus dining options students are racing to the new goldplus b&wphoto by katie young office in the ulrich student center to add more money to their id cards i literally eat at goosey gander every single day now on my swipe card staci balbirer 06 said bill sheehan owner of new street bridgeworks explains the positive and negative aspects of his restaurant accepting goldplus dollars bridgeworks definitely wel comes the card and feels it is a great option for the students as far as eating money he said louie's cafe on the south side is one of the newly added merchants to the goldplus program students can use their id cards to purchase meals at many off-campus establishments big names to play sundaze by rob douglass news writer keller williams mtv regu lars the donnas and ok go and local band simon's awake will be featured at this year's sundaze the annual concert spon sored by university produc tions will be held noon saturday at sayre field the concert will be the cul minating event of greek week festivities there will be six hours of music along with an assortment of other activities for concert goers inflatable jousting bungee run and laser tag will be set up along with booths from a vari ety of organizations which will be giving away free t shirts and samples booths from best buy levi's the u.s army ctn and clairol are all scheduled to be present there will be no charge for admission buses will run from the asa packer campus to sayre field at scheduled times students are asked either to take the buses or walk due to parking shortages at 12:15 p.m simon's awake is scheduled to begin their set the group won this year's lehigh battle of the bands competition earning them a spot in this year's sundaze lineup they have recently released their first album the hundredth monkey phe nomenon they will also perform friday at 10 p.m at the theta xi fraternity at 1 p.m ok go will take the stage ok go has recently gained notoriety for contributing to the soundtrack of the popular video game madden 2003 the band has received heavy airplay on the radio for their sin gle get over it and has per formed on the tonight show and mad tv their concerts are high energy good crowd interaction and a humorous fun show where everyone has a good time pete maher 05 said coppee hall to be dedicated today byjohnmisinco news editor more than 100 students fac ulty members administrators and alumni will gather this afternoon to mark the dedica tion of the weinstock center for journalism at coppee hall the center which houses the department of journalism and communication the brown and white and the epitome yearbook opened in january after a 3.2 million renovation of the building approximately 800 journalism alumni were invited to the dedica tion harry coppee mason jr the great-great-grandson of henry coppee lehigh's first president will be among the guests the center is named after luke weinstock 36 and his wife jane who donated the lead gift to the project the weinstocks who live in california are unable to attend the ceremony although a videotape of the event will be sent to them all donors will receive a framed series of photos com memorating the dedication plans to renovate coppee hall for the journalism depart ment were first discussed in 1985 pat chase director of facili ties planning said designs and construction estimates were complete by 1993 and work was ready to begin but without funding the project languished the project gained a major boost in 2000 when president gregory farrington announced a 7.5 million campaign to improve the journalism depart ment shortly after that rodale inc donated 1 million to the campaign part of which was to go toward die renovations although most of the money went toward establishing online journalism programs jack lule the mcfadden professor of jour nalism said farrington's cam paign was an important step the coppee project was given final approval to proceed in 2001 the drawings and specifica tions had to be revised to meet new codes and changes in avail ability of materials and that took a good half-year to do chase said
