vised uniting lafayette college with lehigh university the letter to mr skillman took issue on several points brought out in skillman's book the biography of a college — lafayette which has recently been published writing on the union of lehigh and lafayette major cattell stated but why not let us forget all these differences and formulate at once a working plan for the union of le high and the cosmos club last night in drown hall james e anderson 33 who was injured in a motorcycle accident at friedensville last tuesday was dis charged from st luke's hospital sunday afternoon few rooms left reports bursar ashbaugh drawings of dormitory rooms were held yesterday afternoon in drown hall under the supervision of f ashbaugh bursar and e ba derschneider director of the supply bureau out of a total of 171 rooms in both taylor hall and price hall two suites and four single rooms are left vacant in taylor hall and two suites and a total of twelve rooms are left vacant in price hall mr ashbaugh expressed the be lief that although most of the rooms are signed for there will be more vacancies in the future due to fail ures and changes in leases freshman handbook board to be selected . dr fort addresses society on history of honorary pi mv epsilon national honorary mathematics fraternity tapped sev enteen men for membership friday in packer memorial chapel the society was addressed by dr tom linson fort head of the department of mathematics and astronomy dr fort talked on the history and purpose of pi mv epsilon he stressed the fact that pi mv epsilon is not merely an honorary organiza tion but is also a working organiza tion affording students and profes sors an opportunity for discussion on the same plane according to dr fort no mathematical society would be tolerated if it were solely honorary dr fort traced the development of pi mv epsilon from its earliest days to the present the society has 25 chapters ranging from the uni versity of california to water project water from the colorado river near hoover dam will be conveyed to los angeles by a proposed aque duct which was described last sat urday by thaddeus merriman c.e 97 to a group of the students and faculty of the civil engineering de partment mr merriman is consult ing engineer on this project the aqueduct will discharge wa ter at los angeles at the rate of 15,000 cubic feet per minute it will cross country of unusually varied geologic and topographic condi tions the greater part of the aque duct will be a tunnel of horseshoe shape dr merriman said that giant pumps will lift the water at the colorado and power for these pumps will be derived from the hoover dam traveling secretary discusses fraternity problems r c youngquist traveling sec retary of lambda chi alpha ad dressed a special meeting of the in terfraternity council on current fra ternity problems scholarship de layed rushing and the house plan mr youngquist had interesting comments to make on all of these
