horseback was written by george s kaufman and marc connelly and was first produced at the broadhurst theatre new york in 1924 the authors are both pulitzer prize winners kaufman won this year's prize for his production of thee i sing and conelly won the 1930 prize for green pastures composed with music beggar on horseback is a two act comedy with music the ori ginal music was composed by deems adver tising manager of the burr j alex ander local advertising manager of the brown and white b d beach former news editor of the brown and white says men sacrificed all the men pledged have de nied themselves some of the lighter pleasures of college life and have made some other sacrifice in order to achieve distinction in journalism at lehigh mr gramley said the fraternity was founded at syracuse in 1909 and has the two fold purpose of raising college jour nalism to a high level and honor ing those men who help doing so at lehigh two years of work on one of the five university publica tions plus a junior or senior stand ing are the only definite require ments the men pledged were sel ected chiefly on a basis of merit according to mr gramley competitions for positions on all the coler a graduate of cornell is the manager of the education de partment of the westinghouse elec tric and manufacturing company in 1913 he was production engineer for the company his topic was the engineer and his works years ago said mr coler i used t6 go around and ask men to come to me now times have changed and jobs are extremely hard to find he continued to say that just as soon as on high voltage direct current transmission at a meeting of the electrical engineering society last night in packard laboratory professor seyfert stated that for hig h voltage transmissions direct current is more practicable than al ternating current high voltage rec tifiers have been perfected but in verters have not he demonstrated by means of a visual oscillograph the various^wave forms of
