the brown and white lehi all the lehigh news first vol 109 no 46 up hosts good times old favorites by nur-e rahman news writer basked in glaring sunlight sayre field was scattered with a constant flow of students saturday for sundaze the event was headlined by the gin blossoms and offered a wide selection of music featuring everything from pop rock to trance other performers included the pat mcgee band athenaeum and dj x dream the scheduled performance by student band trunk full of dead bodies was cancelled because they missed their sched uled set-up time the band won the battle of the bands contest held earlier this semester sundaze co-chair mike moll 03 said he did not know why the band was late the band was supposed to play we wanted them to play and we're sorry they showed up late he said co-chair kasia voychick 04 said the event was successful we've been working since december on this and it proved to be the biggest yet she said we also tried to diversify the genre of music present at the event free merchandise was also given out university productions handed out t-shirts key chains water bottles and frisbees several students said they were upset to see the inflatable games closed by the time they got there the games were set up and oper ated by trained technicians from 11 am to 4 pm most of the crowd however didn't show up until 3 p.m when the pat mcgee band started to play i didn't get to jump on the inflatable things matt neveling 05 said beth konarski 05 said i'm so pissed i didn't get to do any thing everything was over by the time i got there the event was co-sponsored by up and wlvr the radio station was supposed to broadcast in between sets i was disappointed we didn't hear more of wlvr they were supposed to play in between sets but the dj was given a second chance due to technical difficul ties and that didn't quite work out bret sayre 03 said up event staff amy fiore 03 said she was pleased with the concert this year fiore said there of five bands more than the usual three survey reveals tolerant campus by brian erwtn fiditorial pages editor lehigh students are able to look beyond race ethnicity sexual orientation and religion and see people as individuals a group of seniors who conducted a survey on tolerance concluded last tuesday the 18 members of professor carole gorney's applied public relations class spent the semester researching and analyzing the tol erance at lehigh and schools across the nation the class compiled a survey that was distributed to under graduate students via the daily e mail newsletters and answered anonymously online it consist ed of both fact-based and per sonal questions the fact-based questions were included to assess the respon dent's knowledge about various ethnicities religions and sexual orientations the personal ques tions on the other hand gave insight into student's opinions about diversity-related issues and his background questions ranged from statis tics concerning crime figures against certain religious groups to what the fastest growing religion in the world is to the percentage of homosexuals in the population matt estadt 02 said he thought the survey addressed many issues that might not be considered by students every day and that there is no room for a lack of tolerance on college campuses my freshman year i roomed with someone of a different play appeared at zoellner art center last week the show was a project of the theater 144 class and professor augustine ripa it was a compila tion of works from various artists i saw every type of a prostitute who suffers schizoid delusions while grasping on to her past love garret schneider 05 then stole the show appearing as lomov in anton chekov's the proposal his character attempts to propose to his neighbor's daughter natasha mallory taylor 05 ben neumann 02 played chubukov natasha's father while diane humphrey 02 directed set within the struggle of a dream chiori miyagawa's yesterday's window was directed by stella maher 04 the story revolves around a woman's dream involving her daughter september and a delivery man who appears without being called act ii began with haiku n drama about a family dealing with illness and separation the story revolves around a mother's relationship with her two grown daughters one of whom is autistic gelsey bell 01 directed the piece and emily huffman 04 designed costumes the fin;d act was nina in the morning a christopher durang work directed by jane tarica 04 tin play unfolds as nina stephanie baxter 04 a rich vain woman
