particularly concerned this year about the effect of the contin uation of the present trend of bus iness on the future enrollment of the university said president rich ards a dinner will be given in this rectifier was developed by prof seyfert who has been stu dying mechanical rectifiers for elec tric current for some time ttiis rectifier is expected to find impor tant uses in industry because of its efficiency and the fact that it trans forms either a c to d c or d c to a c electricity advantages cited the advantages of direct current over alternating current for elec tric power transmission which deals with cadmium plating versus corrosion fatigue and pickl ing versus corrosion fatigue took professor harvey also pointed out in the conclusion of his experi ment professor harvey brought forth the fact that each of the plat ings used gave a very decided pro tection and that there are other metals besides cadmium and zinc that would present as good if not better water-proofing for gineer's club of new york city the concert is an annual affair and is held to create a lehigh at mosphere for the high school and preparatory students in the new york vicinity glee club sings first the program of musical numbers opened with the singing of hail the college and sea-fever by an drews by the glee club the band played the selection captain an derson by brokenshire two so los asleep in the deep by mack and the armorer's song from de koven's robin hood were pre sented by r e pennington and were followed by a quartet compos ed of p b myers f s roberts j b brown and j f perry the quartet sang a novelty of sea songs including sailing sailing over the bounding waves and the mer maid song and a popular selec tion entitled put that sun back in the sky the glee club in the second part of their program sang sleigh ride by kountz-baldwin love ly or not by seechi-moore and the bell man by forsyth the band played egyptian ballet by ringini a legerdemain performance was given by a e buchanan al umni secretary and the orchestra played a group of popular numbers during the intermission a motion picture of scenes of lehigh grounds and buildings was shown sing irish air after the singing of the galway piper an old irish air by the glee club the three prize-winning songs were sung to the accompaniment of the band a general reception was held aft er the concert in order that high school and preparatory instructors and students might meet president richards and dean mcconn who were present at the concert after the reception a dance was held in the ball room of the en nalism as lehigh's representatives at the convention the registration of the delegates took from 1 to 3 o'clock this after noon and following the registra tion was a business meeting at which speak tomorrow morning at 9:15 the real work of the convention will start with group conferences of represen tatives of the editorial and business boards the editorial board group will be headed by r b counsellor and the main speaker will be harry j proctor of the philadelphia eve ning bulletin who will discuss the general work of the editorial board mr praetor has occupied several positions on the bulletin staff and has decided recently to spend his full time on reporting at the business board conference mr c w mcdowell resident manager of the philadelphia branch of the lafrentz accounting com pany will discuss the need of bud geting expenses in face of the pres ent lack of advertising and the ne cessity and methods of cutting down expenses in production an other speaker in the business board conference will be mr james e hanna a representative of n w ayre and son inc the largest na tional advertising company in the united states he will speak on the college newspaper and na tional advertising he will tell how to get more national advertis ing for the paper and will give some hints on copy-writing and ad makeup new officers to be elected starting at 11 30 there will be an other zinc in water-proofing of steel wilbur e harvey assistant pro fessor of metallurgy has just had his most recent research work pub lished in the march issue of met als and alloys the research work which deals with cadmium plating versus corrosion fatigue and pickl ing versus corrosion fatigue took professor harvey also pointed out in the conclusion of his experi ment professor harvey brought forth the fact that each of the plat ings used gave a very decided pro tection and that there are other metals besides cadmium and zinc that would present as good if not better water-proofing for steel professor harvey also point out that there is a great chance of re search work in the problem of elim inating a pickling bath for some particular purposes which involve simultaneous corrosion
