is the key to man's strength this statement was made by eugen kuehnemann professor of philosophy at the university of breslau germany in a lecture on goethe's faust and the german mind given last friday in pack ard auditorium how shall man find a foundation on which he can stand before god and his conscience this was the question which goethe asked him self in living and in writing faust the answer lies in action moral social and political according to professor kuehnemann there were four great epochs in goethe's life according to the speaker in all of these and in faust he strived to reach the ul timate goal of the german mind perfect unity of freedom and piety his early life shows the affects of the german frontier at that time germany was being influenced by new political standards and a new literature and art was being formed emigrated to weimar the second period of the poet's life began when he emigrated to the duchy of weimar where he enter ed into political life here he showed a soul of devotion loyalty and self-sacrifice said professor kuehnemann for a period of two years goethe toured italy in this his third epoch he had three objects for explora tion nature art and human life in the every-day sense on his return to weimar goethe formed a lasting friendship with schiller the world owes it to schiller that faust was complet ed stated professor seventy cents for each dink sold when other local merchants of fered one dollar arcadia moved that the self-aid association open the contract to bidding by all local merchants the bids to be taken in department of english is the edi tor of a recently published edition of shakespeare's troilus and cres sida dr frederick a bradford associate professor of economics has recently published a book en titled banking the text by dr smith in addi tion to the play proper contains a history of the different shakespear ean editions of troilus and cres sida its sources stage and history dramatic department of english is the edi tor of a recently published edition of shakespeare's troilus and cres sida dr frederick a bradford associate professor of economics has recently published a book en titled banking the text by dr smith in addi tion to the play proper contains a history of the different shakespear ean editions of troilus and cres sida its sources stage and history dramatic lehigh who is now at the university of wisconsin published two books on journalism recently they are re porting for beginners and a teacher's manual in the latter book there are many hypothetical
