packard auditorium thursday night krotzer felt that in the fraternities there was an intellectual con finement of education caused by the pledge duties and fraternity files the pledges are expected to do anything a brother commands even if the brother's order should interfere with academic duties the files meanwhile cause a high degree of conformism — students attempt to get a c and no better the arequipa the second largest city in peru and concentrate its efforts in community development i was in the latter arequipa is about 8,000 feet above sea level it is very dry and warm in 1958 and 1960 earth quakes rocked the city bringing great damage and misery droughts in the sierra created con siderable migration to the city and large patches of land suddenly were invaded and makeshift houses erected these were the barria das in which we were to live and work for the first few months all the men worked in construc tion we worked with peruvians building water tanks allegedly provisional and helping in the construction of school houses not the pleasant district-type school houses at home but flatroofed three-room buildings during the cuban crisis i was passing through a dysentery crisis putting me out parties to follow themes announcec following duke ellington's stomp friday night the spring parties will swing into action as the greeks open their doors to a weekend of fun and merrymaking chi psi phi delta theta and pi kappa alpha have chosen days cf wine and roses as their themes the music will be provided by the castiles the jaguars and ed wiley's band respectively phi
