do nated in the campus chest living group campaign in which price hall won top priority for lafayette football tickets price hall now a freshman dor mitory gave 3,452 per man second and third place also went to freshman sections dravo b-3 was second with a 2,512 per capita donation dravo d-l was third with 2.381 the top ten living groups were price hall 3.452 dravo b-3 2.512 dravo d-l 2.381 state hos pital the scholarship fund for au enrolled hungarian refugee and other annually supported student projects forty per cent of the campus chest will go to the lehigh stu dent projesc this is the first year for the locally oriented fund the world university service is a non-political international organ ization supported by students throughout the world severs elected fellow of royal society of arts dr j burke severs disting uished professor and head of the department of english has been elected a fellow of the royal so ciety of arts in an action by the society council in london dr severs is an internationally recognized authority on chaucer his candidacy required proposal by three fellows of the society founded in 1754 the society's pres ident is prince philip and its patron queen elizabeth early membership in the society included such famous names as horace walpole william hogath auto crash injures 3 sophs richard de chambeau 65 was listed in fair condition at st luke's hospital last night with injuries received when he lost control of a car early sunday morning and hit a utility pole on seidersville road salisbury township two other students john roman jr 65 and james mackey 65 passengers in the car were treated for injuries at the hospital and were re leased according to police the car was travelling at a high rate of speed when de chambeau lost con trol at 12:40 a.m three girls students at cedar crest college were also passengers in the car one was admitted to the hospital according to a report in the bethle hem globe-times the car was trying to beat a 1 a.m cedar crest curfew de chambeau who was pinned in the front seat of the car suffered broken ribs cuts of the scalp and right ear and possible internal injuries power to homes in the area was interrupted as a result of the accident police said de chambeau ran another car off the road moral support — arrangement of window blinds at bethlehem steel office building for mm a game saturday was souzay's performance is elegant tasteful by dr arthur p gardner associate professor of german if gerard souzay who sang to a shamefully small number of people in barn-like grace hall last friday evening was disappointed in the size of his audience he didn't allow this to affect his singing adversely in any way nor did those who were fortunate enough to hear him permit the discouraging turn-out to dampen the enthusiasm of their response in a varied program of songs the french baritone demonstrated once more how right critics are in acclaiming him as one of the most intelligent and sensitive singers of our age he does not possess a great voice one of heroic power or one rich in sensual beauty but he does have a lovely voice and he uses this lovely instru ment in the most elegant tasteful way consequently even if he does not have the vocal equipment of a hans hotter or a dietrich fischer dieskau he like alfred poell deserves to be placed in the same artistic class with these contemporary singing giants the opening section of the program made up of beethoven songs began slowly with the difficult an die hoffnung in which it was evident that souzay was attempting without having fully warmed-up photo by mcl snyder sloshing around left end v/ith a king pitch-out grimy mike noel slips away from one muddy mariner for a first down before being splatted to the turf in front
