fire extinguisher he groped his way downstairs only to learn that where there's smoke there's sometimes nothing more than just smoke trio discuss hoover report social science organizations of lehigh university will present a symposium on the much-dis cussed hoover report on monday march 13 at 8 p.m in packard lab the three speakers are rocco j tresolini asst prof of political science who will trace the back ground of the hoover report and reveal the present dangers to our fundamental doctrines of govern ment harvey e brazer instructor in public finance whose main topic will be the principles and problems of budgetary procedure and george howatt instructor in political science who will present the major reforms embodied in the recommendations of the hoov er report at the conclusion of the addresses the meeting will be thrown open to questions from the audience the symposium open to the public will be presided over by rolland l adams president and publisher of the bethlehem globe times and chairman of the local branch of the bi-partisan citizens commttee for the hoover report political science assembly to include convention plans plans for the year will be outlined and preparations for the coming conventions will be discussed at the next session of the politi cal science assembly newton frishberg arts 50 president of the assembly also said that at the meeting delegates for the regional con ference to be held at muhlenberg will be chosen interested members as well as re this meeting thursday march 9 at 4:10 p.m in room 34 coppee hall members joining at this time will not be handicapped for suf ficinet time remains for preparing for the april 13-16 convention at harrisburg according to george howatt faculty adviser to the group lehigh's participation in the intercollegiate conference on gov ernment is sponsored by the po litical science assembly the i.c.g each year conducts some form of a model political assembly two years ago the activity was a model national political convention last year a model convention state leg islature and this year a model state constitutional convention northeastern region of the i.c.g will hold a enjoyed the cool swim after a hot hoy day at the pool the lehigh swimmers garnered a total of 53 points to gsn a seven point edge over franklin and marshall delaware placed third with 40 points while swarthmore lafayette west chester drexel and dickinson finished behind the top three in that order arts freshmen to preregister choose major all freshman in the college of arts and science will make a tentative choice of a major be ginning on tuesday march 7 dean palmer head of the college of arts ond semester check-up on all freshmen will visit the head of the major which they choose from there they will go to their scheduled interview during this interview the student will also pre-register for the fall semester dean palmer pointed out that purpose of the interview is a sec ond secester 150 backstroke and 300 indivi dual medley relay gil casiraghi and swede hansen placed sec ond and fifth in a 50 yard dash which saw king of f&m tie the meet record of 24.6 dick comes lehigh's number one diver took second place in the dive behind grier of delaware prigg and garner finished second and fourth in the 200 breastroke an event in which pete haupt set a new record last year walt mac
