seeking to raise the fraternity scholastic average above the all men's average at lehigh the in terfraternity council met in pack ard laboratory last week harry hahn of the university counseling center spoke before the fraternity representatives and re viewed the methods used by the reading and study clinic at lehigh to aid students in improving among other things their schol astic standing in emphasizing the importance of reading and study habits in at taining higher marks it was point ed out that lambda chi alpha is requiring every fraternity pledge who fails to make his average take the reading and study course future ifc scholastic meetings will probably be held once a month with the same goal in view epitome goes toward press this year's epitome promises to be the most striking in the his tory of the publication according to the editors the book has been redesigned from cover to cover new type faces will be used to add to the overall clarity and at tractiveness of the 1950 issue the layout of the senior section has been changed to contain colors a completely new cover is now in the making for the 1950 epitome and according to the editors it promises to be a real eye-catcher another feature of this year's book will be the printing of individual pictures of the fraterni ty men for the first time in the his tory of the publication whoops . . . subscriptions will ideals he will be preceded in his talk by chaplain bean dr barthold dean congdon dean leith and dean seidle purpose of the banquet is to acquaint the pledges with one an other and to impress on them the importance of the ideals of frater nity life and what is expected of them during their training as pledges chaplain bean plans to emphasize the importance of ful ifc initiates greek weekend to fete pledges sponsor dance this year the interfraternity council has designated the weekend of february 24 as greek weekend for the pledges of lehigh's 29 social fraternities a banauet will be given in honor of the pledges filling the oaths and pledges taken during initiation and pledging dr barthold and the deans will give short talks on similar topics saturday evening the in terfraternity council is sponsoring a pledge dance which will be open to the university no admission will be charged the dance will be held after the syracuse meet from 10 p.m to 1 a.m music will be furnished by don trostle of the lebanon valley school of music the highlight of the dance will come at 11:30 p.m when lehigh's first triple quartet will announce its contest-winning name the talented singing group
