activities council sac continues m the red the concerts will be stopped william quay dean of students said the sac concert account has an approximate 12,000 deficit more than 3000 of which was caused by the harry chapin concert said chuck marino 77 sac treasurer marino said the size of the deficit from last year is partially caused by the lawyers of the university who have been sitting on litigation with cheech and chong cheech and chong showed up too late to give their scheduled concert last spring causing sac to lose over 3,500 he said marino also atrributed the deficit to general student apathy it is frustrating he said to put on a fan tastic show and absorb a loss because of poor student support gary hirschberg 78 sac concert chairman said sac hopes to make up for their losses with the jackson browne concert oct 21 he said there already is a lot of student en thusiasm about it according to quay sac is doing a good job they're just not getting the support he said they amnesty day was proclaimed by lee following a series of brown and white articles exposing the illegal key situation on campus an illegal university master key is a master key made without university authorization the 50 keys turned into lee do not solve the master key problem illegal keys were turned over to residence halls monday through the campus mail lee said he added the remaining keys appeared on my desk m unmarked en velopes during the last 10 days missing from the collection of illegal keys were any keys to dravo house dravo was rekeyed this summer with a best locking system the keys to the best system are specially cut and imprinted with the words it is unlawful to duplicate this key when asked if the entire campus should be rekeyed lee said the cost would be terrible he added however that an entire rekey operation might be looked into lee criticized the interchangeability of the university lock system residence student accuses german prof of sex bias by eileen canzian editor-in-chief a june woman graduate has charged that arthur gardner associate professor of german gave her a d m a course last semester because he is biased against women mary anne shafer 76 has appealed to the standing of students committee sos asking that her transcript be altered to show a p for passing instead of the"d this is the first time a student has charged a professor with sex discrimination the committee will rule on see prof page 5 plan foresees end of women's quota by ed bogucz managing editor other basic guidelines such as a constant faculty size a commitment to athletics a see plan page 5 first in a series on the university's 10-year plan members of the administration and the forum are reviewing a draft of a new 10 year plan for the university which is based on the assumption that students will be admitted to the univeriity without regard to sex presently university admissions are based on a maximum enrollment of 20 per cent women the draft also states the university will use any surpluses m the unrestricted budget principally for allocations to the university reserve for operations special trustee appropriations or endowment it does not mention using surplus money to help reduce increasing tuition costs the draft entitled a plan for the university l97s to 1985 was compiled by eric ottervik vice president for planning in preparing the draft all university departments academic and non academic were asked to develop long range plans for their departments based on certain assumptions including that men and women are admitted m order of excellence of qualifications without specific numerical quota by sex that and other constraints such as housing might result m an undergraduate population of 3,000 men and 1,000 women the draft stated a change m the university policy of a 20 per cent maximum enrollment of women would require a vote by the university board of trustees ottervik said m an interview in addition to the admission
