discussed for those fraternities that might be practicing this illegal pledge program sigma chi president chris leiphart 94 said ghost pledging is pledging someone who didn't make grades and keeping it from nationals or the ifc in hopes that they will pull their grades up and then be legitimate brothers toren said the minimum penalty for such an infraction is eight weeks social probation loss of the pledge and a hearing to see if further disciplin ary action is warranted he warned the houses against this practice toren also looks to improve the fraternity management association he felt there was a general feeling of discontent about the performance of the fma elections are coming up and toren requested house presidents to nomi nate a brother for one of the five available positions if he server has been slow because people have been using net work server 3 commonly know as ns3 instead of network servers 1 and 2 which are intended for user purpose said binod taterway se nior user consu ltant in the computing center the system is not shut down it is just slow taterway said people have started using ns3 which they are not supposed to do they are supposed to use nsi andns2 the serverwas shut down for two hours on feb 26 for mainte nance ns3 is meant to provide in formation for network servers 1 and 2 said kevin weiner sys tems programming manager it's not a capacity problem he said it's a software networking problem users trying to access the net work server through ns3 have found logging in di fficult because ns3 must perform other functions before log ging in users this priority system often leaves users unable to log in to the server in the two-minute time period allotted by the software therefore many users are denied access to the network server if you haven't successfully typed in your password within two min utes you'll be turned away he said sometimes you'll be turned away before you get a chance to type in your password a bulletin was put on the server informing users of the purposes of ns3 with a request to users to not try to access it some students were angry about the whole system other students still felt unin formed regarding the purposes of network server 3 and the programs which slow down user access doug chen 96 was not aware that he was not supposed to use net work server 3 i just used to skip over those jc and get into the account he n did question however why i slower than usual and as far as i know there's the same number of users doug chen 96 the system has been so slow is slower than usual and as far aw there's he said no time frame was set for its removal the system is capable of serving approximately 330 users at one time through the three systems however since use of network server 3 is discouraged the
