engineering at north carolina state university gave a tele conference tuesday in maginnes world view room for faculty to explore the phenomenon of how students learn how teachers teach and what usually goes wrong with the process the lecture was based on a model of dimensions of learning and teach ing styles that felder explained throughout the pie-taped video the audience participated during the lecture by choosing what kind of learning style best described them felder began by presenting three facts of life the first fact is that what students learn in class is much less than what is taught secondly how much a student learns is determined by native abil ity background and the match be tween the student's learning style and the teaching style finally felder said that instruc tors can't do anything about the student's native ability background or learning style the conclusion is that the only thing teachers can work with in their efforts to maximize student learning is montemurro managing editor a male graduate student in electrical engineering has been missing since dec 20 1993 when he walked out of a final exam turning in an incomplete test remesh warrier 24 a native of india was last seen leaving packard laboratory at 5:45 pan and was reported to have been despondent he is believed to have made a transaction at the lehigh bookstore mac machine at 6 p.m warner's roommate called the police on dec 21 to report warrier missing when he realized he did not come home the night before the bethlehem police contacted local hospitals hotels friends the bus station and car rental agencies and checked bank and telephone records as part of the search for warrier john smeaton dean of students said i believe the bethlehem police have done a very thorough job and a complete investigation smeaton said although the police are searching the situation is difficult the leads have turned nothing up smeaton said pholo courtesy of isa ramesh warrier 24 has been is in charge distributing warner's picture and information the isa plans to put posters up in the community with warner's picture on them it's a shot in the dark ramesh said but we have to try the
