get revenue like how the big schools charge but 10 is pretty steep may be 5 for every game and then 10 for lehigh lafayette jefferson feels it is not fair to the fans to have to pay for justj ust this game while all the other games are free what are they trying to do eliminate stu dents from going to the game jefferson said john desimone,'94 also feels that if stu dents are not required to pay for other games then the same rules should be followed for lehigh-lafayette ticket charge to deter trouble money from sales to be used for extra security unlike other lehigh football games stu dents will be charged an admission fee to enter the lehigh-lafayette game this year students will be asked to pay 10 for the game as they were last year for the game at lafayette joseph sterrett director of athletics ex plained the history behind the situation a committee from both schools was formed three years ago to set rules and regulations for the lehigh-lafayette game the committee was first set up because of the concern over the post-game violence sterrett said the committee felt an admission charge would single out those who truly wanted to see the game and were therefore willing to pay the price instead of those who are there to cause problems they feel it will help prevent violence by bringing in only those fans who really want to be at the game the goal is to get the people who want sterrett can't help feeling a little bit uncom following approval by the board of trustees earlier this month plans on the construction of the 30,000 square foot building are currently receiving the necessary permits from bethlehem the project comes close on the heels of renovations to taylor gym nasium and has overwhelmed some in the athletic department the brown and white lehigh university's student newspaper founded in isv4 all the lehigh news first vol 101 no 12 tuesday october 26 1993 joyce brothers to speak at 94 graduation by lori montemurro associate editor psychologist joyce brothers has accepted the invitation from the se nior class officers and lehigh presi dent peter likins to serve as the com mencement speaker at graduation on may 29 the naming of brothers as gradu ation speaker has elicited mixed re actions from graduating seniors brothers who is known for her television and radio talk shows in cluding living easy with dr joyce brothers and ask dr brothers is a regular columnist for good house keeping magazine and writes a daily column for more than 350 newspa pers lori owen ' 94 senior class presi dent is pleased that brothers ac cepted the invitation to speakat gradu ation and believes she will offer some thing to all seniors she is an intelligent woman who has established a respected name for herself in american society owen please see speaker page 5 decide is the best choice brothers accepted her invitation in the past seniors have been polled and asked who they would like to hear speak at their graduation however owens said the officers did not do a poll this year for several reasons owen said in their meeting with likins they discussed whether or not a poll would be beneficial in the past she said likins explained that said i am confident that she will be a dynamic speaker who will appeal to the graduates of each school owen said the process of choos ing a graduation speaker began in the summer when she and the other class officers met with likins to dis cuss graduation we generate a list of speakers who we think would be able to con tribute a lot to commencement cer emonies owen said owen said likins then sends an
