continued on page 8 col 3 the newest committee created last week at the first meeting of the christian council is that of folk songs an operetta and sacred songs will be the keynote of the vienna choir boy concert in grace hall tonight at 8:00 p.m the lehigh concert is the first stop for the choir in its second post-war american tour the choir of more than 20 boys aged seven to 12 returned to the u.s last season after a european tour during which a festival in vienna celebrated the quatrocento estab lishment of the group by maximi lian i whose imperial decree on july 7 1498 directed that a choir be organized to sing daily masses in the court chapel after maximilian's death suc ceeding hapsburgs continued to subsidize the choir and it achieved fame throughout europe josef haydn and franz schubert as children were members of the chorus until their voices changed with the fall of the haps burgs in 1918 support for the choir from private funds was supple mented by income derived from concert tours which began in 1926 at this time the programs took a more secular turn actually how ever there was ample precedent in its four-century-old history for singing non-sacred music and making concert appearances in the first half of the seven teenth century the choir toured but occasionally although public concerts were not taken then in vogue a stipulation in the in structions to the kapellmeister provided that the boys could per form in public if requested by reputable persons the choir will include on its program offcenbach's one-act comic operetta herr und madame denis the troupe of choristers arrived in america oct 4 aboard the queen elizabeth a costume operetta will be featured on the program in grace hall the concert will include sac red music and popular songs over 100 cities will hear the choristers in their second post-war trans-continental tour their tour will extend from oct 7 to mar 7 at which time they will return to vienna students will be admitted upon presentaion of coupon a in athletic books faculty and stu dents may purchase a ticket for dates or wives at the main box office in grace hall for 75 cents general admission for the public at the door will be 1.50 reserved section tickets for everyone at the door will be 2.40 due to illness rev arthur m sherman head of the religion de partment was unable to attend his place was taken by chaplain bean who related the teachings of jesus on sex the purpose of the organization it was decided to have a joint meet ing with the girls from moravian college every two weeks the day was to be decided later stating that there are three distinct place in the bible where jesus speaks of sex chaplain bean spoke of two of them he further pointed out the various religious beliefs held on sex the meeting was then open for discussion after which a closing prayer by chaplain bean dismissed the group that a union of heart soul mind and body is good if accom plished in a righteous way was the summary committee is one of the more important things that can happen to an indivdual it can be as important to a man as getting married in fact it can affect whether or not he does get married since this
