rail products company officials said much-needed investment would have been pumped into the local plant to modernize its production facilities if negotiations with the union succeeded lower saucon officer receives suspension by vincent keane brown and white news writer two lower saucon police officers have been disciplined for racial harassment of two lehigh seniors dozie mbonu 92 charles perm 92 and jessie morales filed the complaint after a traffic stop on sept 29 resulted in what they say was racial harassment by two officers thomas brandt and ronald jones mbonu perm and morales complained that after they were stopped for overcrowding mbonu's vehicle they were verbally abused and subjected to pat-downs that were inappropriate to the situation the occupants of the car were all minorities and mbonu said they would have been treated differently if they had been white although the investigation is complete the extent of discipline is unknown because of con flicting reports in and white assistant news editor a former lehigh secretary has filed a suit in northampton county court against lehigh seeking damages from the uni versity joe sterrett the athletic director and marsha duncan vice president of student affairs cornelia harvey of lindberg road in bethlehem claims she was forced out of her job as administrative coordinator in the athletic department because of a on an unplanned disability according to harvey's complaint when she returned to lehigh her work station location had been moved and her duties were changed to general secretarial work lehigh spokeswoman rita malone said the university has not been served papers yet but the complaint was read to her over the phone it is harvey's position said malone see woman's page 2 goalposts may end tradition suit indicated that i was named person ally duncan said i will not talk about it until i have talked to an attorney sterrett would not comment at this time because he said he has been given nothing formally regarding the case the action was filed on tuesday by at torney anthony santore and states har vey's job was altered when sterrett took over as athletic director and that the change was unjustifiable harvey was out of work for four months complaint of sexual harassment against a former supervisor she had made confi dentially to duncan in her action harvey claims she re ported the sexual harassment to duncan who breached confidentiality and told harvey's supervisor sterrett about the complaint duncan said wednesday she read about the suit for the first time herself in the lehigh-lafayette game they will be greeted by sun glinting off the new metal goalposts that were specifically designed for this game the instructions given to the engineers who designed the post make goalposts that cannot be torn down by the student body trying to take down the goalposts is going to incur a penalty said joe sterrett director of athletics the police have been told that they are supposed to keep people from getting to the goalposts primarily because we don't want some body getting on them and falling off and getting hurt university police chief eugene dax said 80 police will be on the field--65 bethlehem police and 15 university police groups of 40 will protect each goalpost while hired security maintains order in the stands three ambulances will be on call throughout the game we will stop all types of physical violence inside and outside the stadium people will be dealt with accordingly dax said some students expressed doubt about the new measures it's going to be really tough for the ad ministration to stop several thousand drunk guys from carrying out one of our school's oldest tradi tions said mike slocum 92 a brother at phi sigma kappa mark erickson director of student life and sterrett met two weeks ago with the interfrater nity council to explain their expectations and the new rules surrounding the game both als,o are visiting individual houses with the same message if the notion was that we celebrate our team's victory by tearing down the goalposts and carrying them off the field and so forth that is one thing sterrett said but to tear down
