dr lawrence h gipson re search professor of history at le high university has just recently completed the seventh in a 13 vol ume history series entitled the british empire before the ameri can revolution columbia university awarded dr gipson the loubat first prize for 1948 for the first six volumes of his monumental work his most recent volume entitled the great war for the empire the victori ous years 1758-1760 deals pri marily with the french indian war wlrn adds power programs disc jockey shows featured opening its second consecutive broadcasting year thursday sept 22 wlrn swung onto the airwaves with the musical billboard — and four and one-half more watts despite the worried brows before the second hand marked the zero hour the initial broadcast went over smoothly during an interview with paul lowenwarter the program direc tor it was learned that many new programs of varying types are scheduled for this and the coming semester many of these are in the music department and according to lowenwarter every taste in music should be satisfied the daily programs will be listed in brown and white from now on so that no confusion will arise as to what will be coming on the air the nightly schedule will run as it did the latter part of last semes ter — from 8 p.m until midnight and from 10:00 p.m until one in the morning on saturdays the engineering department wishes to remind all the listeners to phone about any technical de fects that come across the air since wlrn is doing everything in its power to have a smooth and completely understandable pro gram wlen plans also to broadcast as many of the away games as pos sible and according to lowenwar ter the rutgers game is definitely scheduled sign up for pixl class of 50 all men who expect to graduate in february june or october 1950 and who have not made an appointment to have their pictures taken for the epitome call john kirk delta sigma phi 6-0684 any time after 10:00 a.m on tues day october 4 a reminder to those men who have made an appointment i—bring1 — bring your appointment card to the sitting 2 — be prepared to list the activities you wish to have in cluded in your yearbook write up 3 — the photos will be taken in the epitome room in the basement of drown hall 4 — the senior assessment of 14 or any part thereof can be paid at the time of the appoint ment tug-of war scheduled with marquismen plans for the tug-of-war be tween lehigh and lafayette fresh men at the frosh football game in easton are being formulated by cyanide an equal number of men from both schools will oppose each other on the field during half-time all physically able freshmen are encouraged to try out for the team dates of such tryouts and further information about the tug of-war will appear in the brown & white at a future date an alternative class project will be the traditional bonfire follow ing the lafayette week-end pep rally this bonfire on the evening before the varsity game will be an pa jama parade will take place this year as usual 700 scouts to visit here alpha phi omega will conduct its annual scout visitation day to morrow arriving on the campus at 10 a.m the scouts will be divid ed into groups and taken on a tour of the campus by a.p.o brothers the tour will give special empha sis to lehigh's laboratories and testing equipment after luncheon at lambertorr hall the scouts will gather in grace hall for an assembly pro gram the afternoon's activity will be concluded with the lehigh-case football game / over 700 scouts representing 100 troops in 12 councils are ex
