this option because they felt study of foreign culture although academical ly stimulating was not a viable alterna tive to the knowledge of a foreign language a student should really know how to the department went to pay extra teachers the upper-level classes were suffering gatewood said the motion was an attempt to curb the demand and focus attention on the quality of the department rather also must show highest standards of integrity and breadth of inter est both inside and outside of engineering almost 30 students received induction into beta gamma sigma the highest scholastic honor in business administra tion and is the only honorary society recognized by the american assembly of colleg iate schools of business speakers at the convoca tion included lehigh presi dent peter likins the deans of the three colleges james by kristen kuck brown and white asst news editor about 200 lehigh students were honored sunday for their outstanking academic achievements during the 11th annual honors convocation in packer memorial church among those who received special recognition for thier accomplishments were juni ors and seniors who attained a cummulative grade average of 3.5 or better and recipients of various academic awards about 40 students from the three colleges were inducted into phi beta kappa honorary society phi beta kappa is the oldest national honorary soc i ety and recognized high acad emic achievement in the liber al arts and sciences induc tion into the society is held to indicate the potential of fut ure distintion induction into the tau beta pi national engineering hon orary society was awarded to about 60 students tau beta pi was founded in 1885 at lehigh university by dr edward williams and is commemorated by the bronze bent in front of williams
