wednesday's elections a re-election will be held for the office tomorrow according to president of the class of 1988 jeff enslin lesnik's running mates rich rosier and rob kossar both filed letters of appeal alleging that lesnik violated election rules which prohibit campaigning in the u.c on election day enslin said the two candidates listed several people in their letters as witnesses to their dean of students office officially accepted yesterday the expansion committee's recommendation to colonize delta zeta and alpha chi omega sororities this fall the selection of the two sororities was based on a survey which evaluated sorority nationals whose representatives had visited the campus one of the factors taken into consideration by panhellenic council officers and deleg ates as well as committee members was the presentations each sorority made during its visit to lehigh i think they were an excellent choice and would be a fantastic addition to panhel said junior stephanie philips panhel vice president of housing according to philips delta zeta and alpha chi omega have strong alumni ties in the lehigh valley she said delta zeta has 89 alumnae in the area and alpha chi omega has 110 alumnae in the bethlehem area alpha chi omega has chapters at muhlenberg college pennsylvania state university and bucknell university delta zeta has a chapter at drexel university the national sororities are really excited said greek affairs coordinator karen wolfe commenting on the immed iate acceptance of the invitation from the nationals the dean of students office will be working closely with the new sororities this fall during their colonization in september lehigh students from left barry berkowitz 90 renee goldman 88 ofira schribman 90 larry fink 89 david berger 91 and robert kovach 89 spoke before more than 90 people during a candlelight vigil held thursday in remembrance of the holocaust new lu logo sparks controversy to the design duncan added the yellow-gold of the banners was taken from the colors of lehigh basketball jerseys duncan relating the university wide effect of the new logo said what's happened in the meantime it occurs to me is it has gotten much bigger than we ever intended it to be none of us had ever intended to arrive at what we believed was a logo even for the division of student affairs based on that little process the design has become the standard for many business cards press releases catalogs brochures and pamphlets consistent with the logo's design even the women's athletic offices have been accented with brown and yellow-orange strips of see logo page 7 by dan anders brown and white news writer lehigh's new logo a trial design originally intended to be limited to the student affairs office has found its way onto stationery business cards the new catalog brochures and even the flags recently hung in south beth lehem the logo which has lehigh writ ten in bold type and university displayed perpendicularly was the idea of the student affairs office marsha duncan vice president of student affairs said duncan said a year and a half ago we were beginning to take a look at our publications in student affairs and look at them in terms of an audit vi sually let's look at the i mage that we present is there some consistency do we agree on the image that we want to present what should that image be duncan assistant vice president for student affairs joseph sterret and dean of students john smeaton infor mally arranged with the publications office to create some ideas on the visual presentation of the lehigh image we were not equipped with nor did we have the time to do justice to a full-blown investigation so we decid ed in the interim...to ask them literally overnight to come up with examples of four or five ways to present lehigh joe and i decided arbitrarily to go with this try it out for a year and see what the response is duncan said one of the reasons the business cards were changed for admissions and athletics two offices operating under the student affairs office dun can said was to create visual interest in lehigh the athletics office chang ed lehigh to bold type and the admissions office added some color to the cards we said let's pick two colors that are used somewhere at lehigh and see what the response was broken rule forces re-vote ask them to vote however he added that lesnik was not disqualified because although found guilty of the charges by the senior class officers they did not believe he flagrant violated the rules we just thought i would be fairer to have a re-vote he explained lesnik a member of pi kappa alpha fraternity said he was present in the u.c wednesday from 11 a.m until 1 p.m because he was working at a table setup for pike's dream girl contest according
